  • Toy maker Tomy names new CEO

    OAK BROOK, Ill. — Toy manufacturer, Tomy International has promoted Gregory Kilrea to president and CEO and Masayuki Nagatake to COO. The board of directors of Tomy Company, Ltd. has approved these appointments as Curtis Stoelting resigns from his positions as CEO and director of TOMY Company, Ltd. to pursue other business opportunities. 

    Kilrea has been with the company since 2004, having served most recently as president of Tomy International, and prior to that as the company's EVP and COO.

    NAPERVILLE, Ill. & BOCA RATON, Fla. — OfficeMax and Office Depot have announced the committee members tasked with overseeing the process to select a CEO for the combined company and selection of the executives who will help to manage the integration planning process.

    New York -- OfficeMax and Office Depot on Tuesday announced they have formed a search committee to select a CEO for the combined company. They also said they have received a request for more information from the Federal Trade Communication about their planned merger.

  • Walmart donates $1.6M to support fire safety in Bangladesh

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has announced a $1.6 million donation to the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), a U.S. based NGO, to establish the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Academy in Bangladesh. Sida, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, is also a partner in providing support for the new Academy.

  • Genesco to pull out of Chicago stock exchange

    Nashville -- Genesco Inc. said Friday it will withdraw its listing on the Chicago Stock Exchange, citing a need to streamline operations and eliminate overlapping administrative requirements and costs.

    The company, which owns the Journeys, Lids, and Johnston & Murphy banners among others, will continue to list its common stock on the New York Stock Exchange.  

     

  • Cache names two new directors

    NEW YORK — Cache Inc., a specialty chain of women’s apparel stores, announced that Michael Price, managing partner of MFP Partners, L.P., Cache’s largest shareholder, has joined the board of directors. In addition, Charles Hinkaty, formerpresident and CEO of Del Laboratories Inc., has been appointed to the board. In connection with their appointments, Michael Price and Charles Hinkaty have been appointed to the nominating and governance committee and the compensation and plan administration committee of the oard.
