  • Francesca’s prices IPO

    New York — Francesca's Holdings Corp. will price its initial public offering of 10 million shares between $14 and $16 a share, the Houston Business Journal reported. 

    The women’s specialty apparel retailer will trade on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, under the ticker symbol FRAN, the report said.

    In March 2011, private equity firm CCMP Capital acquired a controlling interest in Francesca’s, which operates 160 stores. 

  • Ahold looks to bring in local/diverse suppliers for its stores

    CARLISLE, Pa . — The U.S. subsidiary of Dutch supermarket operator Royal Ahold is hoping to attract local and diverse suppliers to its stores in the markets in which it operates.

  • Payless to open at Marlton Crossing

    Marlton, N.J. — Centro Properties Group US announced that Payless ShoeSouce will open a 3,057-sq.-ft. store at Marlton Crossing, located in Marlton, N.J.    

    Centro, based in New York City, owns the shopping center.

  • Boqueria to open new restaurant in Washington, D.C.

    Washington, D.C. — Grosenor Americas announced that tapas restaurant Boqueria will open a 5,331-sq.-ft. restaurant in a former Penang Malaysian Cuisine space in Washington, D.C.

    Boqueria, which operates two New York City locations, is slated to open fourth quarter 2011.

    Grosvenor Americas also announced that Irish Whiskey will open a 3,815-sq.-ft. bar in the adjacent former Porters Dining Saloon space.

  • Build-A-Bear president resigns

    St. Louis — Build-A-Bear Workshop Inc. president John Haugh said Thursday that he will resign as the company’s president, as reported by the St. Louis Business Journal.

    Haugh’s resignation is effective July 22, according to an SEC filing. His successor hasn’t been named, but current duties will be filled in the interim by Chief Financial and Operations Officer Tina Klocke, Chief Entertainment Officer Teresa Kroll and Chief Executive Maxine Clark.

    Haugh has been at the helm since 2009.

  • Office Depot names president of newly combined North America division

    Boca Raton, Fla. — Office Depot Inc. announced Wednesday that it has appointed Kevin Peters as president, North America, a new position that combines the company’s previous North American Retail and North American Business Solutions divisions.

    Peters was previously president of North American Retail.

  • Gap to roll out more Athleta stores

    New York — Gap Inc. is expanding its Athleta brand. The company will open eight to 10 Athleta stores in 2011, with a total of 50 expected by 2013, according to Women’s Wear Daily

    As previously reported, Athleta will make its New York City debut this summer, opening two locations in Manhattan.

  • Blockbuster one-ups Netflix on pricing

    MCKINNEY, Texas — Blockbuster is taking advantage of recent pricing changes at Netflix to lure customers over to its Total Access service. 

    The company is offering Netflix customers who switch to one of Blockbuster's two most popular Total Access plans a 30-day free trial. After the free trial, customers will continue to receive Total Access for a new everyday price of only $9.99 per month for "1 Disc" at a time or $14.99 per month for "2 Discs" at a time, the company reported.
