  • REI to make Kansas debut with store in Overland Park

    Seattle -- REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.) said Tuesday it will make its state debut in Kansas in fall 2013, with a new store in Overland Park, Kan., a suburb of Kansas City.

    The 23,500-sq.-ft. REI Overland Park will be located at Prairiefire at Lionsgate. Approximately 50-60 new hires are planned.

  • Target and Neiman Marcus partner on holiday 2012 collection

    New York -- The retail industry is buzzing as a discounter giant and a luxury stalwart form an unprecedented partnership.

    Target Corp. and Neiman Marcus Group announced Tuesday they have joined to market a joint holiday 2012 limited collection that ranges from fashion to sporting goods.

    More than 50 products will be available at both stores and on their websites starting Dec. 1 until they sell out. The pair feels the partnership makes more sense than people might think.

    MINNEAPOLIS and DALLAS — Target and Neiman Marcus have joined forces for a unique partnership that will bring a limited-edition holiday collection to both stores beginning Dec. 1. The collection will also be available online at Target.com and NeimanMarcus.com.

  • Kerr Drug names senior VP store operations

    Raleigh, N.C. – Kerr Drug announced Monday it has promoted Mark Gregory to the position of senior VP store operations, effectively immediately.

    Gregory, who was previously VP pharmacy and government affairs, will report to president and CEO Anthony Civello.
     

  • Container Store to open three Florida locations

    Dallas – The Container Store said Tuesday it will open three Florida locations in 2013 – in Orlando, Tampa and Boca Raton – joining its two existing Sunshine State stores in Hallandale Beach and Miami.

    The Orlando store is slated to open spring 2013 and occupy 25,000 sq. ft. in the Mall at Millenia. The Tampa store, also 25,000 sq. ft., will be located one block south of International Plaza Mall. An opening date is still to be determined.

  • J.C. Penney cuts 350 jobs at headquarters

    New York -- J.C. Penney Co. on Tuesday announced that it is eliminating approximately 350 positions at its headquarters in Plano, Texas, completing a reorganization of its corporate office that it said was designed to create a leaner and more simplified operating structure.

  • Tuesday Morning expects to narrow loss in Q4

    DALLAS — Tuesday Morning reported net sales for the fourth quarter ended June 30 of $196.4 million compared with $194.8 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2011, an increase of 0.8%. Comparable-store sales for the quarter ended June 30 increased by 0.2% compared with the same period last year, which was comprised of a 2.7% decrease in traffic and a 2.9% increase in ticket.
