  • Bed Bath & Beyond sales, earnings up in Q2

    UNION, N.J. — Bed Bath and Beyond's earnings per diluted share for its second quarter rose 5.4% from 98 cents ($224.3 million) from 93 cents ($229.4 million) last year.

    The company reported net sales of approximately $2.6 billion, an increase of approximately 12.1% from net sales of approximately $2.3 billion reported in the fiscal second quarter of 2011.  Comparable-store sales in the fiscal second quarter of 2012 increased by approximately 3.5%, compared with an increase of approximately 5.6% in last year's fiscal second quarter.  

  • Bass Pro commits to third store in Colorado

    Loveland, Colo. -- Bass Pro Shops has signed a letter of intent with Loveland, Colo.-based shopping center developer McWhinney to anchor a new northern Colorado development at Centerra.

    The approximately 117,000-sq.-ft. Bass Pro Shops is intended to draw shoppers from Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and beyond.

    “We are very excited to bring Bass Pro Shops to Loveland and be part of the Centerra development,” said Johnny Morris, founder and CEO, Bass Pro Shops.

  • Fred’s Super Dollar launches $1 holiday layaway

    Memphis -- Fred’s Super Dollar announced that it is launching a holiday layaway plan featuring no fees and a down payment of only $1. The plan also offers a $5 gift card to customers for every layaway purchase totaling $50 or more.

  • Three new tenants announced at Shoppes at Wyomissing

    Reading, Pa. -- Garrison Investment Group said that Charming Charlie, Berkshire Shoe & Boot, and Menchey Music have opened or will open soon at The Shoppes at Wyomissing, located in Reading, Pa.

    The three new tenants total nearly 11,400 sq. ft. in the 103,108-sq.-ft. open-air lifestyle center, which is owned by the Garrison and managed by Levin Management.

  • Publix enters North Carolina

    Publix is making its North Carolina debut with the planned opening of a new store in the greater Charlotte area.

    The company has signed a lease for a store at Providence Road West and Johnston Road in Ballantyne. The store will be part of a new division based in Charlotte.

    While Ballantyne marks Publix’s long awaited entry into North Carolina, the company is looking ahead to continued growth within the state and in its current operating areas of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.

  • Nordstrom Rack announces three new locations

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced plans to open Nordstrom Rack stores in the Milwaukee suburb of Wauwatosa, Wis.; Ann Arbor, Mich., and Columbus, Ohio.

    It will be the retailer's first location in the state of Wisconsin.

    The approximately 36,000-sq.-ft. store in Wauwatosa, Wis., is scheduled to open in spring 2014 at The Mayfair Collection, a 250,000-sq.-ft. planned adaptive reuse development of a former industrial complex and distribution center.

  • Charter Realty & Development to lease Oak Park Commons

    South Plainfield, N.J. -- Charter Realty said it has been selected to lease Oak Park Commons located in South Plainfield, N.J.
     
    The single-story, 136,939-sq.-ft. community shopping center is anchored by A&P Supermarket in 60,025 sq. ft. and includes a mix of national, regional and local tenants.
     
    Oak Park Commons is currently 76% occupied with 33,508 sq. ft. of available space.
     

  • Walmart offers fresh food loyalty program

    Walmart and HumanaVitality have developed a unique way to incent people to eat healthier while promoting increased customer traffic at Walmart stores.

    The companies on Wednesday morning launched a first-of-its-kind program called Vitality HealthyFood whereby Walmart offers a 5% discount on produce items to HumanaVitality members. The discount is loaded on a card in the form of a credit within five business days that can be redeemed on a subsequent trip to Walmart.
