  • True Food Kitchen to open at Plaza at Preston Center

    Dallas -- Venture Commercial announced that True Food Kitchen will open a 5,915-sq.-ft restaurant at The Plaza at Preston Center, a five-story mixed-use development under construction in Dallas.

    True Food, a Fox Restaurant Concepts brand, is slated to open in 2013 in a ground-floor space of a building that is devoted to retail tenants.

     

  • Ikea goes live with largest solar installation to date

    Round Rock, Texas -- Ikea has officially plugged in its largest U.S. rooftop solar installation to date, at its store in Round Rock, Texas. When combined with Ikea projects atop stores in Houston and Dallas-area Frisco, the new installation also makes Ikea the largest solar owner in Texas.

  • Kohl's earns green accolades

    MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Kohl’s Department Stores has been recognized with a 2012 Sustained Excellence in Green Power Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The award was presented Monday at an event held in conjunction with the 2012 Renewable Energy Markets Conference in Washington, D.C. This is the company’s sixth consecutive year receiving a Green Power Leadership Award.

  • Guitar Center to open in Durgin Square

    Portsmouth, N.H. -- Boston-based The Wilder Cos. said that Guitar Center will open a 7,358-sq.-ft. store at Durgin Square in Portsmouth, N.H. The new store will host a grand opening on Sept. 27.

    Durgin Square is tenanted by TJ Maxx, HomeGoods and Shaw’s.

    Wilder Cos. is the management company for the shopping center.

     

  • Kellogg deal brings cereal and snacks to China

    Kellogg Company and leading Asian agribusiness group Wilmar International have entered into a joint venture involving the manufacture, sale and distribution of Kellogg’s and Pringles brand products in China.

    The firms are equal partners in the deal designed to accelerate Kellogg’s growth in a market the company expects to become the world’s largest food and beverage market within five years.

  • Mall of San Juan breaks ground; to house Caribbean’s first Saks and Nordstrom

    San Juan -- Taubman Centers and New Century Development announced Friday the groundbreaking on the 650,000-sq.-ft. Mall of San Juan, the island's first luxury retail development. The $405 million, two-level mall will feature the first Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom in the Caribbean.  

    Of the approximately 100 stores and restaurants, it is expected that 60% will be new to the island.

  • Home Depot names new board member

    ATLANTA — The Home Depot has named Mark Vadon to its board of directors. Vadon will be a member of the audit and finance committees. His appointment gives the company 11 directors, 10 of whom are independent.
