  • Bebe names Singh to board of directors

    Brisbane, Calif. -- Veteran entrepreneur and executive Narry Singh has been named to the board of directors of Bebe Stores.

    Singh, who holds more than 20 years of business experience with a focus on digital entertainment, new media, software and e-commerce, was most recently chief executive of mobile entertainment provider Outfit7.
     

  • West Elm to open in King of Prussia, Pa.

    Brooklyn, N.Y. -- Home furnishing retailer West Elm, owned by Williams-Sonoma, will open a store in King of Prussia, Pa., on May 16.

    The 8,406.-sq.-ft. store will be the second West Elm store in Pennsylvania, following the Philadelphia store.

    Vernon, Calif. -- True Religion Apparel has entered into a definitive merger agreement with New York and London-based investment management firm TowerBrook Capital Partners, in a transaction valued at approximately $835 million.

  • Former Gap exec to head David’s Bridal

    CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. — Former Gap executive Pamela B. Wallack has been named CEO of David’s Bridal, a U.S.-based specialty retailer of bridal gown and wedding-related apparel and accessories.

    The specialty retailer is looking to leverage Wallack’s abilities to grow and improve well-known consumer brands to help drive the strategic initiatives underway at the company, including expanding the store base, bolstering the e-sommerce platform, enhancing customer experience and adding to the portfolio of high-fashion brands.

  • Former Gap VP named CEO of David’s Bridal

    Conshohocken, Pa. -- David’s Bridal has named Pamela B. Wallack as CEO, effective May 28. She joins David’s Bridal from Gap Inc., where she has held senior positions since 2005.

    Wallack was the president of Gap Adult, Body and Accessories from 2010 to 2011 and the president of Gap Kids and Baby from 2005 to 2010. In 2011, she was tapped to establish and lead the Gap Global Creative Center, responsible for global design, marketing and production

  • Checkpoint names former Tyco exec EVP, CFO

    THOROFARE, N.J. — Checkpoint Systems, a global supplier of shrink management, merchandise visibility and apparel labeling solutions for the retail industry, has appointed Jeff Richard as EVP and CFO. Richard will replace Raymond D. Andrews, who is retiring from the company July 31. Andrews will remain with the company during the transition.

  • Canadian youth set for more spending power

    Toronto – Continuing income growth means today’s Canadian youth will assume more spending power than their parents currently have during the course of their lifetimes, according to a new report from BMO Economics. The report cites ongoing gains in real media income and compensation, as well as expected future decreases in unemployment, in making this rosy forecast.
