    Columbus, Ohio -- Chute Gerdeman, a global design consultancy, announced an expanded executive team, including the appointment of Brian Shafley as CEO.

  • CVS Caremark changes name to CVS Health as stores stop selling tobacco

    Woonsocket, R.I. -- CVS Caremark on Wednesday announced that it is changing its corporate name to CVS Health to reflect its broad healthcare commitment. The company also announced the end of tobacco sales in CVS/pharmacy stores as of Sept. 3, nearly a month ahead of its previously targeted date of Oct. 1.

  • Jos. A. Bank terminates Jim’s Formal Wear tux agreement

    Fremont, Calif. - Jos. A. Bank has reached an early termination agreement with Jim's Formal Wear, effective Dec. 31. The company will record a one-time charge of $4.5 million in its fiscal 2014 third quarter in connection with early termination of this contract to supply tuxedo rental inventory and logistics.

  • Former Sears CIO named CIO of Office Depot International

    Boca Raton, Fla. – Keith Sherwell, who served as CIO of Sears Holding Corp from March 2010 to June 2013, has been named CIO of the Office Depot international division, effective Sept. 15. Sherwell advised the board of OfficeMax during merger negotiations with Office Depot, and has served as a technology integration consultant to Office Depot since the completion of the merger in November 2013.

  • RetailMeNot names eBay exec as VP

    Austin, Texas - RetailMeNot Inc. has named Michael Jones was named senior VP, retailer and brand solutions. Jones joins RetailMeNot after spending the prior four years serving as VP of merchant development at eBay.

    While at eBay, Jones’ responsibilities included sales, business development, merchant relations and operations for eBay's marketplace business. In his new role at RetailMeNot, he will lead the company's efforts to deepen its relationships with the largest retailers and brands.

  • Possible data breach at Home Depot

    The Home Depot is the latest major retailer to investigate what looks like a data breach.

    The Atlanta-based retailer is looking into the matter and also working with law enforcement and bank investigators.

    "Protecting our customers' information is something we take extremely seriously, and we are aggressively gathering facts at this point while working to protect customers,” the retailer said in a statement.

  • Market Basket to open four to five stores

    Tewksbury, Mass. – The Market Basket supermarket chain is wasting no time in moving forward following its purchase by former CEO Arthur T. Demoulas for $1.5 billion on Aug. 28. According to the Boston Globe, Market Basket plans to open at least four new stores in Massachusetts the near future.
