  • First Data and Verifone partner to combat consumer payment data theft

    Atlanta – Payment technology provider First Data and secure payment acceptance technology vendor Verifone, are partnering to help retailers reduce exposure to large-scale consumer payment data breaches and expedite acceptance of EMV-enabled credit and debit cards in advance of the October 2015 liability shift for EMV-enabled payment card fraud.    
  • Hershey creates a mouth-watering printer

    Consumers who love chocolate may have been waiting for the day someone unveiled a chocolate 3-D printer. Well, thanks to Hershey Co., that day has come.

    The company has announced the debut of its 3-D Chocolate Candy Printing exhibit at Hershey’s Chocolate World in Hershey, Pa. Consumers who visit the store will have the opportunity to interact with Hershey scientists and the breakthrough technology.

  • SRS to drive nationwide store expansion for Walgreen Co.

    Dallas - SRS Real Estate Partners has executed an exclusive agreement with Walgreen Co. to assist the retailer’s nationwide new store expansion and relocation strategy. SRS has been a long-time strategic consultant to Walgreens; leading the team for SRS are executive vice presidents Patrick A. Smith and Matthew D. Alexander, who will work closely with Walgreens to enhance the company’s existing store base while evolving its real estate management structure.   
  • Controversial CEO out at American Apparel

    Dov Charney, the controversial founder of American Apparel, has been fired "for cause" as CEO, the company said.

    Charney was suspended as president and CEO of the hipster apparel chain in June for alleged misconduct and violations of company policy. The decision was made by the board’s “suitability committee,” which was formed to oversee an internal investigation in the wake of Charney's suspension.

    Walmart has announced the 75 winners of its Food Pantry Holiday Makeover campaign, which gifts a food pantry organization with a $20,000 grant for renovations. 

  • Former Toys “R” Us chief named CEO of Hudson’s Bay

    Toronto  - Hudson’s Bay Co. has named Gerald Storch, the former CEO of Toys “R” Us, as its new CEO, effective January 6.  An industry veteran with over 30 years of experience, Storch oversaw the expansion of Toys “R” Us online and international business. Prior to joining the toy giant, he was vice-chairman of  Target Corp., where he founded target.com, and ran the chain’s grocery business.  
  • CST, CrossAmerica jointly buy 22 Timewise convenience stores

    San Antonio, Texas - CST Brands Inc and CrossAmerica Partners LP have agreed to jointly purchase 22 convenience stores in San Antonio and Austin, Texas from Landmark Industries, their third combined acquisition in less than three months. The 22 stores operate under the Timewise brand name and provide Shell-branded fuel.   
  • Sembler and Forge acquire two new shopping centers

    St. Petersburg, Florida - The Sembler Company and Forge Capital Partners, in their Forge Real Estate Partners III investment fund, have recently purchased two shopping centers:  Causeway Shopping Center in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, and Springdale Shopping Center in Austin, Texas.     FREP now owns five shopping centers, and the joint venture is actively seeking additional investments in grocery-anchored shopping centers throughout the Southeast.
