  • Rent-A-Center sells 14 Canadian stores

    Plano, Texas - Rent-A-Center Inc. has sold 14 rent-to-own stores located in Alberta and Ontario, Canada to Canadian merchandise leasing company Easyhome Ltd. The transaction included Rent-a-Center concurrently purchasing three Easyhome rent-to-own stores located in Florida, Missouri and New York.

  • Fresh Thyme Farmers Market has big plans

    Indianapolis -- Fresh Thyme Farmers Market may have only been in business in three years, but it is thinking big.

    With some16 stores in the Midwest, the value-priced, organic specialty grocer is scheduled to open 60 stores by 2019. It will open two new location in the Indianapolis area on Aug. 6.

    Phoenix -- Jeff Green, president of Jeff Green Partners, and Jerry Hoffman, president of Hoffman Strategy Group, have announced a formal collaboration to expand their companies’ work on complex, mixed-use feasibility research including retail, residential, office and hotel uses.

  • Michaels stockholders to sell 12.5 million shares

    Irving, Texas – Some stockholders of The Michaels Companies Inc. intend sell 12.5 million shares of Michaels common stock. The selling Stockholders will receive all of the net proceeds from this offering.

    No shares are being sold by the company. Goldman, Sachs & Co. will act as underwriter for the offering.
     

  • Tiffany nabs Cartier exec as international VP

    New York - Tiffany & Co. turned to a main competitor when it was time to find a new global business executive. Tiffany has named Philippe Galtié to the position of senior VP international, effective Aug. 17.

    Galtié, 54, most recently held the post of Cartier’s international retail director. He began his career with a range of general management and global marketing roles at Moët-Hennessy, Mars Inc., Eridania Beghin Say and the Nestlé Group.


  • Overstock wants customers to eat their fresh fruits and veggies

    Salt Lake City – Overstock.com is expanding the availability of fresh fruits and vegetables for its customers. The off-price e-commerce retailer already makes fresh farm-grown produce available to nearly half of Americans through its online farmers market store, which serves customers in 35 states.

  • Coty pretties up product portfolio with P&G deal

    Coty is buying 43 beauty brands from Procter & Gamble Co., including Miss Clairol, Covergirl and Max Factor.
