  • Stein Mart plans six store openings

    Jacksonville, Fla. -- Stein Mart is expanding its presence this fall with four new stores and two relocated stores. The new stores are located in El Paso, Texas; Buford (Atlanta), Ga.; Elk Grove (Sacramento), Calif.; and Watchung, N.J.

  • QVC Germany CEO to retire

    West Chester, Pa. - Dr. Ulrich Flatten will retire as CEO, QVC Germany at the end of the year, after 12 years of service to the company. Under his leadership, Germany has developed into QVC's largest European business and its second largest business outside of the United States.

  • The Forum in Wilmington, N.C., sells for $24.7 million

    Wilmington, N.C. — Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services has arranged the sale of The Forum, a 105,000-sq.-ft boutique retail center in Wilmington, N.C. The $24,680,000 sales price equates to $233 per square foot.

    Marcus & Millichap’s Fort Lauderdale office represented the seller, the developer of the property, Swain & Associates, as well as the buyer, L&B Realty Advisors LLP, a pension fund. Swain & Associates will maintain its offices at The Forum and continue to handle leasing responsibilities.

  • Del Monte Foods streamlines so it can focus on pet products

    Del Monte Foods has announced plans to sell its consumer products business to Del Monte Pacific Limited for $1.675 billion so the company can focus on the pet products market.

  • L Brands prices $500 million in senior notes

    Columbus, Ohio - The previously announced offering of $500 million aggregate principal amount of unsecured senior notes due 2023 from L Brands (formerly knows as Limited Brands) has priced at 100% of the aggregate principal amount with a coupon of 5.625%. The sale of the 2023 notes was underwritten by BofA Merrill Lynch, Citigroup Global Markets Inc. and J.P. Morgan Securities LLC as joint book-running managers.

  • Safeway net income plunges in Q3

    Pleasanton, Calif. – Safeway Inc. saw its net income plunge 58% from $157 million to $65.8 million during the third quarter of fiscal 2013, amid a software impairment charge, higher theft and lower property gains. Results, however, beat expectations however.

    Sales grew 1.1% from $8.52 billion to $8.62 billion, driven by a 1.9% improvement in same-store sales.

  • Safeway to dispose of Dominick’s stores and exit Chicago market

    Pleasanton, Calif. -- Safeway Inc. announced it plans to get rid of its 72 Dominick's stores in the Chicago area, exiting the market in early 2014.

    Safeway’s decision comes after Dominick's had a net loss of $8.4 million for the third quarter, ended Sept. 7, compared with a loss of $6.2 million in the year-ago period, and a net loss of $21.5 million for the year to date, compared with $16.8 million for the year- ago period.

  • La-Z-Boy to buy two franchise La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries in Ohio

    Monroe, Mich. – La-Z-Boy Inc. intends to acquire two La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries stores located in the Youngstown, Ohio, market, with combined revenue of approximately $6.5 million. The stores are located in Boardman and Howland, Ohio, and are owned and operated by independent dealers who are retiring.
