  • Saks names president of direct unit

    NEW YORK — Saks has named Michael Burgess as president of its direct business, effective May 7, 2012. Burgess will report to Denise Incandela, EVP and chief marketing officer for Saks Fifth Avenue and current president of Saks direct.

  • Retired Kroger COO joins Acosta board

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Retired Kroger president and COO, Don McGeorge, has joined the board of directors of Acosta Sales & Marketing, a leading full-service sales and marketing agency in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.

    During his time at Kroger, McGeorge was responsible for all of the company’s supermarket divisions, advertising, customer relationship marketing, manufacturing, merchandising and procurement, pharmacy and retail operations until his retirement in 2009. 

  • West Marine CEO steps down

    Watsonville, Calif. -- West Marine said Tuesday that its president and CEO Geoff Eisenberg will resign once a new chief is appointed.

    Following a leadership transition period, Eisenberg will serve as a special advisor to the West Marine board of directors.

    West Marine has already initiated the search for a new CEO. No reason has been given for Eisenberg’s departure.
     

  • Calvin Klein designer brings Brazilian style to Macy's

    NEW YORK — Francisco Costa, who serves as women's creative director for Calvin Klein Collection will design a limited edition capsule dress line exclusively for Macy's.

    According to Macy's, this is the first time Costa has designed a more affordable dress offering for a national retailer.

  • Fameco names business development exec

    Plymouth Meeting, Pa. -- Fameco Real Estate announced that David Hinkle has joined the company as VP business development. 

    Hinkle previously served as president and CEO of NMD, the holding company for National Book Warehouse and The Book Market, a discount book seller with 185 stores; most recently he was CEO and Co-founder of VPI Business Advisors.

    St. Petersburg, Fla. -- HSN announced Monday it has acquired lifestyle brand Chasing Fireflies. Terms of the transaction weren’t disclosed.

    The purchase, which was made through the multichannel retailer’s Cornerstone Brands segment, will accelerate HSN’s move into content-driven lifestyle businesses.

  • Verizon opens debut tri-lingual FiOS store

    Providence, R.I. -- Verizon said Tuesday it has officially opened its first tri-lingual FiOS retail store, where employees are ready to serve customers in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. The store is located in Providence, R.I.

    “Having employees in our store who speak Spanish and Portuguese will enhance the experience for our customers," Susan Retta, VP marketing for Verizon, said.

    Employees at the new Verizon FiOS store will be able to help FiOS customers with questions about their FiOS Internet, TV and voice service.
