  • Collaboration translates to growth for crafts industry

    WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — The National Stationery Show has joined forces with the Craft & Hobby Association to provide those in the social stationery and crafts, and creative hobby industries with new resources.

  • NRF ‘BIG Show’ gets underway

    New York -- The National Retail Federation's 102nd Annual Convention & Expo, also referred to as Retail's BIG Show, opened on Sunday, with more than 27,000 attendees from more than 70 countries around the globe. The event, taking place at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, runs through Jan. 15.

  • Market Track: December 2012

    In December, the retailers that increased their page counts were balanced out by those that decreased their page counts. However, of those retailers that did reduce their page counts, only two also reduced the number of inserts distributed by more than 2%. 

    Keeping with their November strategy, Walmart continued its aggressive promotions this month, and has shown a significant increase in both drop of flyer and pages per flyer. They showed the highest growth compared to other advertisers in page counts, and the second highest growth in number of flyers.

  • Retail industry adopts principles for tax reform

    New York -- The National Retail Federation board of directors said Monday it has adopted a resolution directing NRF to “strongly encourage” Congress to enact comprehensive tax reform in 2013, and it set out a list of principles aimed at achieving tax policy that would boost the economy and encourage job growth.

  • Target to open in Huntington, N.Y.

    Minneapolis -- Target announced plans to open a store in Huntington, N.Y. in October.

    To date, Target has announced plans to open 17 Target stores in 2013.

     

  • SC Johnson recognized for sustainability efforts

    RACINE, Wis. — SC Johnson, a leader in sustainability, has received the Renewable Energy Customer-Generator of the Year award from Renew Wisconsin.

    Renew Wisconsin is an independent nonprofit organization that leads and represents businesses, organizations and individuals who want cleaner, renewable energy in the state. It recognized SC Johnon for its achievements in using renewable energy in its global manufacturing operations.

  • Intel, Samsung among Eggie Award recipients

    CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. — Intel, Samsung and Microsoft were among the six recipients recognized with a 2013 Eggie Award for Partners of the Year.

    Presented by Newegg, a leading consumer electronics e-retailer, the Eggies are awarded to vendor partners and customers who have made outstanding contributions and supported Newegg’s growth efforts.

  • Wal-Mart names new chief of Walmart Latin America; Solorzano to retire

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores announced that Enrique Ostale, president and CEO of Walmart Chile, formerly D&S, has been named EVP, president and CEO of Walmart Latin America, where he will oversee Walmart's operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Nicaragua.
