  • West Elm makes Missouri debut in St. Louis

    Brooklyn, N.Y. -- West Elm is opening its first location in Missouri – at the St. Louis Galleria.

    The 8,385-sq.-ft. store, slated to open in July, will incorporate works by local artists as part of its plan to support St. Louis talent.

    “Our customers are as passionate about supporting artists in their local communities as we are at West Elm,” said Jim Brett, president of West Elm. “We are proud to be incorporating some of St. Louis’ most talented artists into the assortment for our new store.”

  • Newell Rubbermaid completes sale of Teach platform

    ATLANTA — Newell Rubbermaid has announced the sale of its Teach platform, including the Mimio and Headsprout interactive teaching technology brands, to Skyview Capital, LLC, a Beverly Hills, Calif., private equity firm.

    Terms were not disclosed. The transaction has closed with the signing of the agreement.

  • New York & Company inks deal for Somerset

    Bridgewater, N.J. -- Women’s apparel retailer, New York & Company, has taken 7,440 sq. ft. in the Somerset Shopping Center in Bridgewater, N.J., according to Levin Management, the property’s leasing and managing agent.

    The lease brings the 214,202-sq.-ft. center to full occupancy.

  • Former PetSmart chief named to HanesBrands board

    Winston-Salem, N.C. -- HanesBrands said it has tapped PetSmart former chairman and CEO Robert Moran to serve on its board of directors, expanding the number of directors to 10.

    Moran, 62, retired from PetSmart in June. He had served as CEO since 2009.

     

  • Former PetSmart CEO appointed to Hanes board

    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — HanesBrands has appointed former PetSmart chairman and CEO Robert F. Moran to the company’s board of directors.

    Moran, 62, whose term runs until the 2014 annual meeting of stockholders, will serve on the board’s audit committee. With Moran’s appointment, the Hanes board has 10 members.

    Moran's international career in the retail industry spans four decades. He retired last month from PetSmart, where served as COO from 2001 to 2009, prior to being promoted to CEO.
