  • Transwestern brings on new managing director

    Los Angeles — David K. Henry will join Transwestern as a Los Angeles-based managing director. He will lead the West Coast Tenant Advisory Services group and serve occupier clients with locations throughout the U.S. along with the tenant advisory group’s international alliance with Paris-based BNP Paribas Real Estate. Henry will also join the firm’s National Tenant Advisory Steering Committee.

  • Newk’s Eatery names director of development; 12 restaurants on tap

    Jackson, Miss. -- Fresh casual restaurant brand Newk’s Eatery announced the hire of two new support center team members who will assist in the national expansion of the brand.

    After nine years in business, Newk’s Eatery has entered a renewed growth mode, with 12 new restaurant locations planned to open before year end 2013. Newk’s currently operates and franchises 59 units in 11 states.

  • Fresh & Easy acquired by Yucaipa; store closures on tap

    Los Angeles -- Grocery chain Fresh & Easy confirmed reports that its British parent Tesco LLC has sold the brand to private equity firm The Yucaipa Cos., following months of uncertainty about the 200+-unit chain’s future.

    Fresh & Easy posted on its website Tuesday that more than 4,000 jobs would be saved under the purchase agreement but that some stores will be closing. Specific stores have not been identified, and the terms of the agreement weren’t disclosed.

  • Tiffany names new design director

    New York - Tiffany has appointed Francesca Amfitheatrof as design director effective immediately. She will oversee design of all Tiffany product categories.

    Amfitheatrof’s background is as a jewelry designer and silversmith. Her designs have been sold internationally, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Colette in Paris.

     

  • McCormick appeals to tailgate cities

    SPARKS, Md. — McCormick is appealing to football fans who enjoy tailgating, and identified the Top 10 Tastiest Tailgate cities in the U.S. to promote its Grill Mates seasoning.

    In a joint venture with Bert Sperling, a leading "Best Places" researcher, McCormick Grill Mates analyzed 31 cities in the U.S. with professional football teams to identify the Top 10 in the country.

  • Stuart Weitzman promotes vice chair to CEO; plans new stores

     New York - Wayne Kulkin, former vice chairman of Stuart Weitzman, has been appointed CEO of the company, effective immediately. Kulkin will continue to report to Stuart Weitzman, executive chairman of Stuart Weitzman.

    "Wayne has been a true partner over the last 23 years,” said Weitzman. “His passion, creativity and business acumen have been essential in driving our growth across diverse channels, and I am confident that Wayne will be equally instrumental in his new role as CEO.”

  • Wal-Mart exec appointed to World Affairs Council board

    Fumbi Chima, Walmart VP of global technology services and strategic partnerships, has been elected to the World Affairs Council-Washington, D.C., board of directors.

    Chima is responsible for Walmart’s vendor management office, project management office and its global technology services office in India, as well as the IT asset management team.

  • 20 Togo’s for Oregon and California

    San Jose, Calif. — Togo’s Eateries has announced two multi-unit franchise agreements to develop 20 new restaurants in Oregon and California over the next several years.

    Togo’s Franchisee Mark Fischer will open 10 restaurants in Portland, Ore., and 10 additional locations in Los Angeles County. The first will open in Portland in the first quarter of 2014.

    Fischer and his parterns currently own and operate two California restaurants in Stockton and Tracy, Calif.
