  • Burlington Coat Factory net income drops in Q4; will open 25 net new stores

    Burlington, N.J. – Burlington Coat Factory saw a 36% decline in its fourth quarter net income, which fell to $16.1 million from $25.3 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2012. The retailer plans to open 25 net new stores during fiscal 2014, including 22 in the fall, two in May and one in April.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts plans 65 new stores in Brazil

    Canton, Mass. -- Dunkin' Donuts has signed an agreement with OLH Group to begin developing Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in the Brasilia and Goias regions of Brazil. The agreement calls for the development of 65 Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in the Brasilia and Goias areas during the next several years.

  • Disney enlists with AAFES in fight for sales

    Sizable new standalone sections of Disney brand consumer products have been created at 15 stores worldwide operated by the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES).

    The merchandising initiative, dubbed “Disney at the Exchange” features a wide range of Disney, Marvel and Star Wars products and will be available in 15 AAFES installations by this summer. The assortment will include dolls, action figures, role play items and clothing, as well as toys and other merchandise tied to current Walt Disney Company theatrical releases and television content.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts plans six new stores in East Texas

    Canton, Mass. -- Dunkin' Brands, the parent company of Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins, has signed a multi-unit store development agreement with new franchise group, BG&E Investments, to develop five Dunkin' Donuts restaurants and one Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin-Robbins combination location throughout East Texas. The first restaurant is planned to open in summer 2014, and the remainder by 2018.

  • Report: Obama seeks to raise OT threshold

    Washington, D.C. – President Obama reportedly wants to raise the maximum salary threshold for overtime eligibility for salaried employees. According to Reuters, Obama has directed the Labor Department to raise the current maximum salary level of $455 per week, which covers about 12% of all hourly employees.
