  • Omaha Steaks launches rewards program

    Omaha, Neb. - Omaha Steaks today announced the launch of a newly created customer loyalty program, Omaha Steaks Steaklover Rewards. This new loyalty program is designed to reward customers through a points-based program, where they can earn points by purchasing products, in addition to non-transactional engagements like referrals and social sharing.

  • Dick’s Sporting Goods opening three stores

    Pittsburgh -- Dick’s Sporting Goods on Tuesday announced grand openings for three new stores.

    The company will hold opening celebrations June 6 through June 8 for the following locations: Lawrence, Kansas; Culpepper, Virginia; Arden, North Carolina.

    With the openings, Dick’s will operate 570 stores nationwide.

  • AutoZone stays on the right track in third quarter

    AutoZone marked its 31st consecutive quarter of double digit earnings per share growth for the period ended May 10.

    The company reported net sales of $2.3 billion for the quarter, an increase of 6.2% from the third quarter last year. Domestic same-store sales, or sales for stores open at least one year, increased 4% for the quarter.

    Net income for the quarter increased $19.6 million, or 7.4%, over the same period last year to $285.2 million, while diluted earnings per share increased 16.4% to $8.46 per share from $7.27 per share in the year-ago quarter.

  • AutoZone Q3 profit up 7.4%

    Memphis -- AuzoZone’s earnings rose a better-than-expected 7.4% to $285.2 million for the third quarter, up from $265.6 million in the year ago period, helped by demand for new parts.
     
    Revenue rose 6.2%  to $2.34 billion. Domestic same store sales rose 4% in the quarter.

    During the quarter, AutoZone opened 30 new stores in the United States and seven new locations in Mexico. As of May 10, the company had a total of 5,279 stores, including 4,901 domestically and 374 in Mexico.

  • Logan’s Roadhouse rolls out Microstrategy-based mobile app

    Tyson’s Corner, Va. - Logan's Roadhouse has selected MicroStrategy's Alert Platform as the foundation for a new customer-focused mobile app. Through its new app, Logan's intends to provide a complete brand experience to mobile consumers.

    Using mobile conveniences and marketing features available in the Alert platform, Logan's expects to generate more repeat business, amplify its social presence, and deliver enhanced loyalty services.

  • Designed by Baltimore’s DDG, Mall of Istanbul opens

    Baltimore — The Mall of Istanbul opened today in Istanbul, Turkey. The 34.5-acre mixed-use development features 2.1 million sq. ft. of retail space, 1.4 million sq. ft. of residential space and 322,600 sq. ft. of office space.

    Baltimore-based DDG won the design contract for the mall in 2009 in an international competition.

  • Ross merchandising chief Barbara Rentler appointed CEO

    Ross Stores’ board approved a succession plan whereby chief merchandising officer and president Barbara Rentler will become CEO, making her the 25th female chief executive to currently serve at a Fortune 500 company.

    Rentler will succeed Michael Balmut, who announced nearly two years ago his intent to step down as CEO on June 1, and become executive chairman. Ross Stores said Balmut will continue to play an integral role on the senior management team.
