  • SRS names VP

    Dallas -- SRS Real Estate Partners said that Scott Tiernan has joined the company as VP in the Atlanta office.

    Tiernan is charged with helping single-tenant building retailers and restaurateurs expand through leveraging the capabilities of SRS and Cypress Equities. Tiernan previously worked for O'Leary Partners in Atlanta.


     

  • Francesca's Q2 profit doubles; CEO to retire

    Houston -- Francesca's Holdings Corp. said Tuesday that net income for the quarter ended July 28 topped expectations by nearly doubling to $12.7 million, from $5.5 million in the same quarter last year. Sales leaped nearly 50% to $25.1 million, and same-store sales surged $20.7%.

    The company said it is on track to open 76 stores and one outlet this fiscal year, two of them in the third quarter.

    ATLANTA — Newell Rubbermaid has appointed Doug Martin as CFO, succeeding Juan Figuereo.

  • Delhaize names former Wendy’s CEO as new chief

    Salisbury, N.C. -- Grocery parent Delhaize said Friday it has named former Wendy’s and Arby’s CEO Roland Smith as president and CEO of Delhaize America and executive VP of Delhaize Group. Smith succeeds retiring CEO Ronald C. Hodge, effective Oct. 15.

    Hodge will continue to serve the company in an advisory capacity.

    Delhaize America operates supermarkets under the Food Lion, Hannaford and Sweetbay banners.
     

  • Tuesday Morning names former Big Lots president as new CEO

    Dallas -- Tuesday Morning announced Tuesday that it has named former Big Lots head Brady Churches as its new CEO, stepping in for former CEO Kathleen Mason who was terminated by the company in June.

    Mason has since filed suit against the closeout retailer, alleging that she was fired because she disclosed that she has breast cancer.

    Churches’ appointment is effective immediately. His most recent position was as president of Marketing Results Ltd. Prior to that he was president of Big Lots.
     

  • Advance Auto parts names head of Mid-Atlantic store ops

    ROANOKE, Va. — Advance Auto Parts  has promoted Rusty Tweedy to area SVP, responsible for store operations in the Mid-Atlantic regions. Tweedy will report to Kurt Schumacher, SVP national field operations. Effective with this promotion, the company is adding a fourth operational area which will enable the company’s field and commercial sales leaders to be more aligned and focused on driving profitable growth.

  • Gordmans names former Safeway exec to HR post

    Omaha, Neb. -- Midwestern department store retailer Gordmans said that it has named Roger Glenn as senior VP human resources.

    Glenn joins Gordmans from Safeway, where he served as group VP for human resources and handled recruitment, employee relations, human resources planning and diversity.
