  • C-store chain GasAmerica deploys JobApp Network to improve hiring

    Bloomfield Hills, Mich. -- Convenience-store operator GasAmerica is utilizing JobApp Network’s automated hiring management solution for c-stores. Following a phased approach, the Indiana-based chain has now completed rolling out the solution to all of its 86 locations.

    According to GasAmerica, hiring success starts with JobApp, which makes it easy for people to apply around the clock.

  • DSW names SVP human resources

    COLUMBUS, Ohio — DSW has named Todd Cordell as SVP human resources.  Cordell will be responsible for all human resources activities in support of DSW Stores, DSW.com, and the DSW leased business division.  

    "Todd brings a wealth of experience and expertise in all areas of the Human Resources function, most particularly Organizational Development," said Michael MacDonald, CEO of DSW Inc.  "I am confident Todd will help DSW attract, develop and retain top talent in support of our key strategic growth initiatives."

  • DSW names former Starbucks exec as human resources head

    Columbus, Ohio -- DSW announced Tuesday that it has Todd S. Cordell as senior VP human resources, effectively immediately.

    Cordell will be responsible for all HR activities in support of DSW Stores, DSW.com, and the DSW Leased Business Division. 

    Cordell was previously VP human resources for Starbucks Coffee Co.

  • Dillard’s to pay $50,000 in age discrimination case

    New York City -- Dillard’s will pay $50,000 and provide additional, unspecified relief to settle an age discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Triangle Business Journal reported.

  • Levi's names head of Dockers brand

    SAN FRANCISCO — Levi Strauss & Co. announced that it has named Anne Rohosy as EVP and president global Dockers.

    As Dockers president, Rohosy will be responsible for all product, marketing and business operations for the global khaki brand, reporting to Levi Strauss & Co.pPresident & CEO John Anderson. She moves to this Dockers leadership position after two years as a SVP, overseeing Levi’s brand commercial wholesale operations in the Americas. Prior to joining Levi Strauss & Co., she spent 15 years with Nike.

  • Bad weather washes out Lowe's Q2 sales, earnings

    The country's second largest home center chain posted sales of $12.2 billion in its first quarter ended April 29. That's down 1.6% as the one-two punch of bad weather and weak economy took its toll.

    The company's earnings also declined -- down 5.7% to to $461 million. Comparable store sales were down 3.3%.

  • Men’s Wearhouse treats its 14,000-plus employees to pizza

    Houston -- The Men's Wearhouse surprised more than 14,000 employees with pizza delivery to every store across North America. To thank employees for their hard work and dedication, more than 42,400 slices of pizza were delivered to more than 1,200 Men’s Wearhouse, MW Cleaners, and K&G Fashion Superstore locations in the United States and Moores Clothing for Men stores in Canada.

  • Hershey names SVP, chief people officer

    HERSHEY, Pa. — Kevin Walling has joined confectioner Hershey's team as its SVP and chief people officer, effective June 1.

    In his new role, Walling will serve as the chief architect for Hershey’s human resources, talent retention, development and recruitment, as well as total rewards strategies.

    Walling, who joins Hershey from global technology and manufacturing company Kennametal, will report to Hershey president and CEO David West.
