  • Saks Inc. names new e-commerce head

    New York -- Saks Inc. announced hat Michael Burgess has been named president, Saks Direct, effective May 7. Burgess will report to Denise Incandela, executive VP and CMO for Saks Fifth Avenue and current President, Saks Direct.

    Burgess has served as executive VP of the consumer division of FTD at United Online since 2008 where he led merchandising, marketing, consumer information technology, and several other functions of the growing FTD North America business segment.
     

  • West Marine CEO steps down

    Watsonville, Calif. -- West Marine said Tuesday that its president and CEO Geoff Eisenberg will resign once a new chief is appointed.

    Following a leadership transition period, Eisenberg will serve as a special advisor to the West Marine board of directors.

    West Marine has already initiated the search for a new CEO. No reason has been given for Eisenberg’s departure.
     

  • Banana Republic, Google Offers join Starbucks in jobs effort

    Seattle -- Starbucks Coffee Co. said Tuesday that Google Offers and Banana Republic are joining with Starbucks and Opportunity Finance Network to support the Create Jobs for USA program.

    The pair, which are the first businesses to join Starbucks in the initiative, will run special promotions and make donations in support of the program that is designed to raise money to put Americans back to work.

  • Target names marketing head

    New York -- Target Corp. on Monday named Jeffrey Jones as executive VP and chief marketing officer, effective immediately. He succeeds Michael Francis who left the company in October to join J.C. Penney.

  • REI names senior executives for IT and e-commerce

    Redmond, Wash. -- REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.) promoted Bill Baumann and Brad Brown to senior VP information technology, and e-commerce and direct sales respectively.

    In addition, Kathleen Peterson has been named VP of REI Private Brands.

  • Ross Stores makes executive appointment in real estate

    Pleasanton, Calif. -- Ross Stores announced that Glen Boyer, previously VP real estate market research, has been named group VP real estate market research & property management.

  • Swanson joins agenda at chamber event

    Walmart SVP talent development Celia Swanson has been added to the roster of speakers for the NWA Business Women’s Conference on Sept. 11 hosted by the Bentonville/Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce. Swanson joined Sam’s Club with the Pace membership club acquisition in 1994 as the senior director of the people group. She served as VP of the people group at Sam’s until 1997 when she was promoted to run membership, marketing and administration. She was named EVP in 2000, assumed leadership of change management in 2005 and moved to her current role in 2009.

  • Hobby Lobby name first female president in its history

    Brentwood, Tenn. -- Hobby Lobby International has named its first female president, hobby industry veteran, Debra Love.

    Love has been at Hobby Lobby since 2009 when she joined as VP IT and communications, and most recently served as executive VP.
