  • Wooden "Cars" line drives into Toys"R"Us

    WAYNE, N.J. -- Toys“R”Us has announced the launch of the first-ever collection of wood vehicles, track and playsets based on the popular Disney-Pixar movie, Cars, availableexclusively at Toys“R”Us stores around the world and online at Toysrus.com. The collection was created and designed by Toys“R”Us in collaboration with Disney Consumer Products.

  • Irwin Tools appoints new president

    Irwin Tools, a leading maker of hand tools and power tool accessories based in Huntersville, N.C., has named Ross Porter as its new president. Porter has held a variety of positions during his 18 years at Newell Rubbermaid, Irwin’s parent company. He most recently served as president of EMEA Transformation, where Porter led the company’s European transformation efforts, including implementation of a new European business model, integration and implementation of SAP enterprise system, and relocation of its European headquarters.

  • Massage Envy to expand in Pittsburgh area

    Scottsdale, Ariz. -- Massage Envy announced Thursday the signing of a multi-unit Regional Developer agreement with Sol Glastein for the development of 11 new centers in Pittsburgh, Western Pennsylvania and Morgantown, W.V.

    Glastein has been a Massage Envy franchisee since 2006 and currently operates two centers in New Jersey.

    In 2010, Massage Envy opened 43 locations, bringing the total number of locations to more than 650 units operating in 43 states.
     

  • Gap adds expands online presence in Europe

    SAN FRANCISCO -- Gap said that it has expanded its Gap and Banana Republic online presence to eight additional European countries through its dedicated European e-commerce sites.

    Gap debuted the dedicated sites in the United Kingdom in August 2010 and then expanded to include nine additional European countries in October 2010. The newest announcement brings the total reach of it European e-commerce business to 18 countries.

  • 7 For All Mankind to open stores in Canada

    Los Angeles -- 7 For All Mankind announced it will open its first fully owned store in Canada in March, at Chinook Centre in Calgary.

    The company said it plans to open two to three stores annually in Canada during the next four to five years.

  • Report: Wal-Mart in talks to partner with Indonesia's Matahari

    Jakarta/Singapore -- Wal-Mart Stores is in talks to become a partner of Indonesian retailer PT Matahari Putra Prima to develop its hypermarts, according to Reuters.

    South Korea's Lotte Shopping Co. has withdrawn from talks for a deal with Matahari, the report said. Matahari last month said it will seek a “global partner” to develop its hypermart business.
