Northbrook, Ill. — Pine Tree Commercial Realty has announced the appointment of Julie Zamudio as VP of design and construction. Zamudio most recently served as lead manager of the multi-site group banking and retail sectors in the Chicago office of Lend Lease Construction Inc.

Bohemia, N.Y. -- FrontStreet Facility Solutions announced that Brian French will join the executive leadership team as VP of operations. French is the former president of Cairn Development.

Brooklyn, N.Y. - West Elm, a division of Williams-Sonoma, will open a store in Birmingham, Ala., on Thursday, Oct. 10. The 8,000-sq.-ft. store is located in The Summit Birmingham shopping center.
 

Purchase, N.Y. — The March of Dimes Greater N.Y. Chapter and the Real Estate Award Breakfast Committee have named National Realty & Development Corp. as the 2013 Real Estate Award recipient.

This year marks the 26th annual Real Estate Award Breakfast and the 75th aAnniversary of the March of Dimes. The breakfast will be held November 14 at the Renaissance Westchester Hotel in White Plains.

Stater Bros. has announced that VP of real estate Mike Slaton passed away suddenly on Saturday, Sept. 28. He was 51 years old.

As a tribute to Slaton, the 44,000-sq.-ft. Stater Bros. supermarket that opened recently in Redlands, Calif., will be dedicated in his honor.  
 

Garden City, N.Y. — Beth L. Lamport, 70, executive VP with Sabre Real Estate Group LLC died Sept. 27 at her home in Port Washington.

The cause was uterine cancer. “She was a dynamo in the business,” said Kenneth Breslin, a Sabre principal.

ConAgra has appointed Thomas “Tony” K. Brown to its board of directors, effective Oct. 15. With the addition of Brown, ConAgra’s board has increased to 12. 

Bentonville, Ark. -- Walmart announced that Kathleen McLaughlin, 48, has been named president of the Walmart Foundation, effective Oct. 15.

In addition to leading corporate giving, she will have responsibility for the company's global sustainability, women's economic empowerment initiatives and healthier food initiatives.

McLaughlin, previously a senior partner at global consulting firm McKinsey & Company, is a dual American-Canadian citizen and was based in Toronto.

Steve McKinney was named president of Kroger’s Fry’s Food Stores division in Arizona to succeed Jon Flora who passed away unexpectedly two weeks ago.

McKinney, 57, had previously served as vp of operations at Kroger’s Ralph’s division in California since 2007. The Fry’s division operates 119 stores in Arizona.
