  • Wal-Mart comments on weekend shooting in Las Vegas, accident in New Jersey

    New York — Wal-Mart Stores found itself at the center of two national news stories this past weekend, both of which involved fatalities.

     On Saturday, June 7, a truck driver for Walmart was charged in the highway crash that left comedian Tracy Morgan critically injured and killed one of Morgan’s associates, comedian James McNair.

  • Olympian Gus Kenworthy heads to Petco’s Dog Days of Summer event

    Petco and the San Diego Padres are opening the gates of Petco Park to man's best friend during their annual "Dog Days of Summer" event July 29, and throwing the first pitch will be Olympic silver medalist Gus Kenworthy, alongside his famous Sochi pooch.

    Kenworthy gained notoriety not only on the slopes in the 2014 Winter Olympics, but off as well, as he made it his mission to save the stray dogs of Sochi and find them loving homes.

  • SGK taps new SVP, brand strategy

    SGK, formerly marketed as Schawk, a leading global brand development, activation and deployment company that drives brand performance, has appointed Andrew Flynn as SVP of brand strategy.

    In this new role, Flynn will focus on identifying and developing strategic brand solutions for clients to help drive brand performance by leveraging the services offered by Brandimage and Anthem, part of SGK's brand development group, and Schawk, the company's brand deployment business.

  • Mi Pueblo Foods emerges from bankruptcy; names new CEO

    San Jose, Calif. -- Hispanic supermarket chain Mi Pueblo Foods announced its formal emergence from Chapter 11 reorganization after having completed a necessary financial restructuring. The company also announced that Javier Ramirez has been named president and CEO. He will succeed Mi Pueblo founder Juvenal Chavez, who will be named chairman of the board.
     
    Ramirez is a seasoned CEO in the Hispanic food and grocery sector.
       

  • Lumber Liquidators formalizes sustainability team

    Lumber Liquidators has formalized its compliance and sustainability team headed by Raymond Cotton, who was appointed as chief compliance and sustainability officer in February and reports directly to president and CEO Robert M. Lynch.

    Cotton manages the company’s quality assurance, sustainable sourcing, loss prevention, risk management and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements of global trade.  

  • Ikea completes South Florida’s largest solar project

    Sweetwater, Fla. -- Ikea announced it had completed the installation of South Florida’s largest solar array, which will be plugged-in officially atop the future Miami-Dade Ikea store opening this summer in Sweetwater, Florida. Combined with rooftop arrays in Orlando, Tampa, and Sunrise, this fourth solar project will keep Ikea as the state’s largest non-utility solar owner.
