Brooklyn’s largest mall announces six new tenants
Brooklyn’s largest shopping destination has announced a spate of new tenants aimed to appeal to growing crowds of Gen Z consumers.
Urban Planet x Charlotte Russe has already opened its first Brooklyn store at Macerich’s Kings Plaza in the Mill Basin neighborhood. Also set to open at the million-square-foot mall before year’s end are Miniso and Little Tokyo with their first locations in the borough.
Coach, Applebee’s, and PacSun will take residence at Kings Plaza in 2026.
“We’re excited to bring our unique blend of bold streetwear, trend-forward styles, and everyday essentials to the vibrant Brooklyn community.” said Almyra Popat, a marketing specialist for Urban Planet x Charlotte Russe. “Our mission is to make fashion fun, affordable, and accessible for all.”
The mall has seen multiple capital improvements since Macerich acquired it in 2012, and the big mall owner is working on another redevelopment planned for 2026.
Kings Plaza, which marks its 55th anniversary this year, is Brooklyn’s only enclosed super-regional shopping center, attracting some 40,000 bus passengers traveling to and from the center every weekday.
“Kings Plaza continues to attract top brands that recognize the strength of this market and the unique value of being part of Brooklyn’s only enclosed super-regional shopping center,” said Macerich’s VP of leasing Richard Madramuthu.
Key tenants at the mall include Primark, Zara, Macy’s, Sephora, American Eagle and Target.
“The arrival of these new retailers not only expands the choices for our shoppers but also reinforces Kings Plaza’s role as both a premier retail destination and a vital gathering place for the Brooklyn community,” Madramuthu said.
Macerich also owns Queens Center, a four-story mall in the Elmhurst neighborhood of Queens, which recently announced the arrival of eight new tenants that included Primark, H&M, Burlington, and Dave’s Hot Chicken.
Queens Center has already undergone both internal and external renovations that include new light fixtures, new carpeting, and upgraded common area seating. An expansion of live greenery and an updated parking garage are also in the works.
