A specialty Western wear retailer simplifies in-store digital product searches.
With expansive store layouts and more than 8,000 styles of footwear and apparel, Boot Barn wanted to help customers and store associates find desired items faster and easier. Boot Barn believed it could improve the digital in-store customer experience using a larger interactive touchscreen that allows customers and associates to comfortably collaborate and find desired products within the store.
Deciding to replace its existing tablets with an interactive kiosk it called RangeFinder, Boot Barn selected the Elo 32-inch touchscreen, Elo Backpack Android compute engine, and EloView enterprise software to support the kiosks.
RangeFinder, a secure cloud-based platform for Android-powered devices, empowers customers to hone in on the right product based on their unique search criteria. For example, the kiosk enables someone to filter by boot gender, type (work/western), skin (alligator, leather, etc.), toe shape, features, or safety (slip-resistant), and then refine by the fulfillment options available for that item (available in-store, ship-to-home, etc.). Shoppers can also now search for jeans and hats using the RangeFinder.
Boot Barn has implemented analytics in order to track, at an individual store level, how the screens are being used. According to Boot Barn, customers are spending 25% more time discovering the retailer’s inventory of products on the kiosk’s screens. In addition to streamlining the sales process for store associates, the kiosk has become a digital hub for all of Boot Barn’s digital customer experiences.
Beyond locating products, Boot Barn also leverages the kiosks for employee training, endless aisle browsing, buy-online-return-in-store implementation, loyalty programs, and brand advertisements all displayed on the Elo touchscreen.
The EloView platform also allows Boot Barn’s IT team to dynamically update content instantaneously across its entire fleet.
“What started as a great idea for endless aisle has evolved into a true digital hub, where Elo is the center of all of Boot Barn’s digital customer experiences,” said John Hazen, chief digital officer, Boot Barn.
Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., Boot Barn operates about 250 stores in 33 states.
