Bojangles debuts electric vehicle charging station
A North Carolina-based quick-serve fried chicken chain is moving forward with plans to offer "charge and dine" services to its customers.
Bojangles is operating its first electric vehicle (EV) charging station at a store in Savannah, Ga. The Savannah location marks the first milestone in a larger initiative to bring EV charging infrastructure to Bojangles restaurants across the country in partnership with EV charging and sustainable infrastructure provider XLR8 America.
The Savannah charging hub is the first step in a planned national rollout across key markets. The charging stations will vary between level two (medium) and level three (high) speed charging efficiency with over 97% uptime.
"Driving trends are changing, and so are the expectations that come with them," said Richard Del Valle, CIO at Bojangles. "With EV charging, time becomes an asset. We’re turning that stop into something meaningful: a chance to relax, refuel and enjoy a true Bojangles experience. This is about more than charging vehicles, it’s about redefining the stop along the way."
In July 2025, Bojangles initially announced it would install turnkey EV charging stations at most of its locations beginning in 2026. However, that announcement involved a collaboration with different partners.

By integrating EV infrastructure into its footprint, Bojangles says it is supporting broader adoption of electric vehicles and providing a new “charge-and-dine” customer experience.
"At XLR8 America, our philosophy is simple: charge where you park, not park where you charge,” said Frank O’Connor, CEO of XLR8 America. “Bojangles gets that. When a driver pulls in for a Bo-Berry Biscuit and their battery tops off while they dine, that's not a coincidence — that's the charge-and-dine experience made real. Together, we're building a national network that makes EV charging effortless and every stop genuinely worth making."
Quick-service sandwich chain Subway also offers electric vehicle chargers at select locations. First piloted in 2023, “Subway Oasis” charging parks feature charging canopies with multiple ports, picnic tables, Wi-Fi, restrooms, green space and playgrounds.
Founded in North Carolina in 1977, Bojangles operates more than 870 company-owned and franchised restaurants in 23 states.
