Bloomie’s sets opening date for Seattle

Bloomingdale’s is bringing its smaller-store format to the Pacific Northwest. 

In its first brick-and-mortar presence in the market, the upscale department store retailer, a division of Macy’s,  will open a Bloomie’s location at University Village in Seattle, on Nov.2. It will be be the third Bloomie's to date. Bloomingdale’s unveiled the concept in 2021, in Fairfax, Va. A second location, at Westfield Old Orchard Mall in Skokie, Ill., opened in late 2022. 

Similar to Bloomie’s other locations, the 19,000-sq.-ft., two-level  Seattle store has been designed with flexibility in mind, allowing to adapt and meet the needs of the local Seattle customer.  It will carry a range of on-trend, ready-to-wear and accessory brands, with the assortment curated to local preferences both in brand mix and product categories. The store will also have dedicated space for rotating pop ups and trend presentations. 

Bloomie’s also offers an array of personalized services, including styling, easy returns, pickups, alterations, gift wrapping and more.  

"The expansion to University Village represents the introduction of our Bloomie's store concept to the west coast and we are thrilled to be present in the Seattle market," said Charles Anderson, director of stores at Bloomingdale's. "Although this is our first physical storefront in the area, Bloomingdale's already has an engaged customer base in the Seattle market."

Boomie’s is part of Macy’s Inc.’s “Polaris” strategy that includes closing about 125 Macy’s stores and expanding its off-price, smaller-scale and off-mall retail concepts.

Bloomindale’s currently operates 32 Bloomingdale's stores, 21 Bloomingdale's The Outlet stores, and two Bloomie's stores, with locations in California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington. 

In addition, Bloomingdale's has an international presence with a location in Dubai and Kuwait.
