BJ’s has been expanding across the Eastern United States.

BJ’s Wholesale Club is opening its first location of the new year.

The membership warehouse club retailer will open a new location in Commack, N.Y., on Friday, Jan. 7. The opening will bring BJ’s total number of U.S. locations to 224, with 12 of those being on New York’s Long Island.

In May, BJ’s said it was accelerating its growth across the Eastern United States, with plans to open six stores by the end of its current fiscal year (Feb. 1., 2022). In addition to Commack, the locations include Seabrook, N.H., Port Charlotte, Fla., South Fayette, Pa., Ross Township, Pa., and Lansing, Mich. The locations in the greater Pittsburgh area and in Lansing, Mich., are both new markets for the retailer.

It will also feature an assortment of seasonal items, home décor, fashion for the family, toys, hot tech, and a selection of local products.

Additional features include BJ’s ExpressPay, which allows members to skip the checkout line by scanning their cart and paying for their purchase through the retailer’s app.

Headquartered in Westborough, Mass., BJ's Wholesale Club currently operates 223 clubs and 154 BJ's Gas locations in 17 states.
