The optical division of BJ’s Wholesale Club is enhancing its e-commerce experience with new features including virtual try-on.

The BJ’s Optical site now provides a “one-stop shop” for frames, single vision eyewear, non-prescription and prescription sunglasses, and contact lenses. The enhanced experience also features virtual try-on technology to make it easier for shoppers to find the correct pair from home.

Virtual try-on is an increasingly popular digital offering for optical retailers. Other retailers in the vertical providing some type of augmented reality (AR)-based frame try-on include Warby Parker, EyeBuyDirect, and Jins

BJ’s has been actively expanding the digital and omnichannel services it offers customers. Other examples from the past year include personalized promotions, contactless curbside pickup, and a revamped consumer app.

“We know how busy our members are, which is why we’re making it easier for them to shop for eyewear with our new online optical experience,” said Chris DeSantis, senior VP, GMM, sundries and services, BJ’s Wholesale Club. “We’re committed to delivering outstanding service to our members and our new BJ’s Optical experience is another example of how we’re bringing that commitment to life and helping members shop their way for everything they need.”

Shoppers can also obtain comprehensive eye exams and shop for eyewear at in-store BJ’s Optical Center locations.

Headquartered in Westborough, Mass., BJ's Wholesale Club is a leading operator of membership warehouse clubs in the Eastern U.S. The company currently operates 221 stores and 151 BJ's Gas locations in 17 states.
