Bed Bath & Beyond taps former Walmart exec as digital, technology chief
Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. is adding to its leadership team.
The Utah-based company, which also owns Overstock, Buy Buy Baby and a blockchain asset portfolio, has appointed Rick Lockton as executive VP and chief digital, product and technology officer, effective Nov. 3.
Lockton will join Bed Bath & Beyond from Tractor Supply Company, where he served two years as the senior VP of digital. Prior to that, he spent two years at furniture retailer Ashley Global Retail, most recently serving as senior VP, e-commerce general manager. Before that, he spent 11 years at Walmart, rising to become VP of digital product.

“As we evolve from a pure-play retailer to a complete home ecosystem provider, we remain laser focused on strengthening our online retail foundation,” said Marcus Lemonis, executive chairman and principal executive officer at Bed Bath and Beyond. “Rick’s proven success in building digital-first businesses, driving profitability, and scaling innovation aligns perfectly with our next phase of growth.”
In his new role, Lockton will lead all digital, AI, product, and technology functions for Bed Bath & Beyond. The company says his priorities will include accelerating digital growth, improving conversion, and building value through advanced consumer data strategies.

Lockton’s appointment comes weeks after Bed Bath & Beyond completed its purchase of the Kirkland’s Home trade name and related brand assets from The Brand House Collective Inc. (formerly Kirkland’s Inc.). All of Kirkland’s Home locations are currently in the process of being converted to Bed Bath & Beyond Home stores. The new format made its debut in August in Nashville.
