American Eagle Outfitters subsidiary enters national delivery partnership

AEO’s Quiet Platforms delivery platform is partnering with Shipium.

The American Eagle Outfitters (AEO)-owned last-mile delivery provider Quiet Platforms is offering a new option for two-to-three-day delivery across the country.

Quiet Platforms is partnering with e-commerce shipping platform Shipium to provide reliable two-to-three day-shipping, combined with reduced delivery costs. AEO acquired Quiet Platforms at the end of 2021 (when it was known as Quiet Logistics) for approximately $350 million in cash.

Quiet Platforms operates a network of fulfillment centers, which utilize state-of-the-art technology including robotics, in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, St. Louis and Jacksonville. The centers are designed to locate products closer to need, creating inventory efficiencies and providing affordable same-day and next-day delivery options to customers and stores.

The company currently serves a range of retail clients including Fanatics, Kohl’s, Steve Madden, Saks Off Fifth, Peloton, American Eagle, Li & Fung, and Aerie. Its network is intended to support AEO’s continued growth, while also driving economies of scale as it expands its customer base to other brands and retailers seeking advanced logistics capabilities, according to American Eagle.

"Evolving the fulfillment approach from centralized, out-of-market distribution centers to a nimble network of in-market centers enhances our ability to meet our customers' needs faster and at a lower total cost of operations," said Charles Griffith, CTO of Quiet Platforms. "We're pleased to partner with Shipium to ease the integration challenges for all shippers and ensure our retail and brand customers achieve the speed, efficiency and quality our edge network is designed to deliver."

"Brands and retailers need innovators like Quiet Platforms to help reduce the complexity of their supply chains," said Jason Murray, CEO of Shipium. "We are excited to complement their ecosystem with logistics technology that ensures customers are happy and operations are optimized."

Quiet Platforms bolsters capabilities with partnerships

The new Shipium partnership follows other recent Quiet Platforms collaborations, such as the launch of Quiet Platforms’ partnership with supply chain platform FourKites in fall 2022 to provide enhanced supply chain visibility to all of its retail customers.

Leveraging FourKites functionality, Quiet Platforms provides retailers in its network full lifecycle visibility for inventory, assets and shipments moving through its connected network. Quiet Platforms expanded supply chain visibility access directly to retailers in December 2022, enabling them to track the movement of inventory from receipt to delivery in near-real-time, resolve logistics exceptions, gain transportation insights, reduce cargo loss, and improve customer experience by giving shoppers accurate, real-time information about the status of their orders.

Quiet Plarforms also teamed up with global shipping and mailing company Pitney Bowes in May 2022.  Pitney Bowes provides value-added carrier services to Quiet Platforms’ shared supply chain network.

The company also recently announced a collaboration with global shipper DHL to bring value-added carrier services to its growing network, and in August 2022, Quiet Platforms selected Harte Hanks Inc. as its preferred “middle mile” logistics manager. Harte Hanks will be responsible for shipping parcels being transported by Quiet Platforms.
