Amazon to offer new in-store perk for Prime members

Members of the Amazon Prime paid loyalty program will soon have another exclusive discount.

Starting Wednesday, June 29, Prime members will be able to save 20% on select everyday essential products at Amazon Fresh stores. Prime members will have access to this in-store discount year-round to members by scanning the in-store QR code in the Amazon app at checkout, or by paying with a credit card registered to their Prime account at a register, on an Amazon Dash Cart, or at a “Just Walk Out” exit. Savings will be automatically applied.

Customers can identify which items are eligible for the Prime-exclusive discount via the “Prime Member Exclusive Deal” blue bubble tags, or in the deals feed on in-store mode of the Amazon app. These Prime-exclusive discounts are only available in-store. According to the retailer, Prime-exclusive benefits at Amazon Fresh stores will be available for the foreseeable future.

Benefits will only be available to Prime members at this time. If customers sign up for Prime prior to checking out, they will receive the discount upon checking out.

Amazon will have a variety of Prime Day deals ($1 deals, buy-one-get-one promotions, and savings of 20% or more) available to all Amazon Fresh shoppers during Prime Day in-store.

In addition to saving on everyday essentials, Prime members will receive 20% on a weekly rotating selection of prepared foods. At launch, savings will be offered on products including:

• Organic 100% Grass-Fed Ribeye Steak, 10oz.
• Planet Oat Original Oatmilk, 52 fl oz.
• 365 by Whole Foods Market, Trimmed Brussels Sprouts, 12 oz.
• Fresh Brand Broccoli Stir Fry, 15.5 oz.
• Hidden Valley Original Ranch Salad Dressing & Topping, Gluten Free - 16 oz. Bottle.
• 365 Everyday Value, Cage-Free Non-GMO Large Brown Grade A Eggs, 12 count.
• Fresh Brand Raw Large Easy Peel Tail On Shrimp Value Pack (31-40 Count/Pound), 2 lb. (Frozen).
• Verde Farms Organic 100% Grass-Fed Ground Beef 85/15, 1 lb.
• Sabra Hummus Classic, 10 Oz.
• Dietz & Watson Honey Maple Ham.

Amazon now operates 35 Amazon Fresh stores across the U.S. with two to open soon, including 15 in California, eight in Illinois, four in Washington state (including one designed to be zero net carbon), five in Virginia (three open and two to open soon), and one each in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.

Amazon Fresh stores are designed from the ground up to offer a seamless shopping experience, with extra features for members of the Amazon Prime paid loyalty program. The stores offer a wide assortment of national brands and produce, meat, and seafood, along with a range of prepared foods made fresh in store every day.
