Amazon is hiking the cost of using its hosted logistics service.

Amazon has released its 2027 fee schedule for independent sellers using the hosted Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) service.

On average, starting Jan. 15, 2027, FBA fulfillment fees will increase by $0.19 per unit sold, approximately 0.8% of the average item’s selling price. The impact will vary by product, size and price. Amazon says that fees for some products will increase and others will decrease so that each fee more closely matches its cost of fulfilling that product.

Amazon will maintain a 3.5% FBA fuel and logistics surcharge it implemented in April for fulfillment fees across the U.S. and Canada. The surcharge will also be applied to the Remote Fulfillment with FBA service from the U.S. into Canada, Mexico and Brazil. According to the retailer, costs, especially fuel and line-haul trucking, have remained elevated since it introduced the surcharge and it keep reviewing the surcharge as conditions change.

Amazon is also currently applying holiday peak fulfillment fees through Jan. 14, 2027 for its FBA, Remote Fulfillment with FBA, Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF), and Buy with Prime services.

Other highlights of Amazon’s upcoming changes to its FBA-related fees for independent sellers include:

Storage

Effective Feb. 1, 2027, Amazon will eliminate the storage utilization surcharge, which it says will make it easier for sellers to stock up ahead of high-demand events. Amazon will also remove the aged inventory surcharge and combine it with monthly storage fees into a single, age-based rate.

Amazon says these changes will result in flat or lower fees for inventory that turns in less than six months, higher fees for aged inventory, and a new age-based rate that will make seller storage costs easier to predict.

The company is also updating the low-inventory-level fee. Currently, the fee is assessed using trailing 30- and 90-day sales. Effective Feb. 1, the fee will apply only when a seller’s inventory falls below 28 days of supply, based on actual shipments in both the four weeks before and after the assessment date.

By also evaluating sales in the four weeks after the inventory assessment, Amazon says this change will confirm whether low inventory reflects ongoing demand and will target SKUs that need replenishment and reduce instances triggered by unexpected demand spikes or end-of-season and end-of-life products.
