Amazon is increasing its technology workforce and infrastructure.
Amazon is adding square footage and employees to existing tech hubs in Austin and Phoenix.
The company’s latest planned tech hub investments are part of a broader multi-city expansion of technology office and jobs across the country and company. In January 2021, Amazon leased a new 17-story office tower in Boston to support 3,000 new corporate and technology jobs there over the next several years.
The e-tail giant also previously announced it would invest more than $1.4 billion in creating 3,500 new tech and corporate jobs across and expanding its tech hubs in Dallas, Detroit, Denver, New York, Phoenix, and San Diego.
Following are details of Amazon’s latest plans for tech hub expansion in Austin and Phoenix.
Austin
Amazon plans to create more than 2,000 corporate and tech jobs in Austin, Texas, over the next few years, further expanding its existing Austin Tech Hub. These new roles will support teams growing in operations technology, Amazon Retail, Amazon Business, and Amazon Web Services, and include positions such as senior data engineers, senior technical program managers, user experience designers, and financial analysts.
To accommodate its growth in Austin, Amazon has signed on to lease 330,000-sq.-ft. of space at a new building developed by Cousins Properties at The Domain in Austin. This latest investment will join Amazon’s three existing locations in Austin at The Domain.
“Our continued investment in Austin is a testament to the amazing talent and amenities that this city has to offer,” said Doug Gray, site lead for Amazon’s Austin Tech Hub. “With more than 3,000 jobs already created and more than 1,000 corporate and technology roles currently available, we’re looking forward to continue offering exciting career opportunities to local residents.”
Phoenix

These new roles will support Amazon’s teams in Consumer Retail, Amazon Web Services, and Operations, and include positions such as software development engineers, senior solution architects, project managers, and business analysts.

We’ve already created more than 5,000 corporate and tech jobs in the Phoenix area and we are excited to continue investing here.”
