Amazon Prime members can get deliveries from select Rite Aid stores.
Amazon Prime members have a new fulfillment option for health and CPG items in two select markets.
In an email to Chain Store Age, Amazon announced that Prime members will have two-hour delivery windows from Rite Aid stores in select ZIP codes in Newark, N.J. and Burbank, Calif.
The new delivery service will offer Prime members in the greater Newark and Burbank markets a product assortment from Rite Aid including health and personal care, cosmetics, and grocery essentials. Prescriptions and pharmaceuticals are not available through this service. Prime members in eligible areas can shop via a dedicated Rite Aid page on the Amazon site or shopping app.
“Rite Aid’s availability on Amazon provides our local Prime members in Newark and Burbank with even more selection and convenience as they continue to shop for health and personal care, cosmetics, and grocery essentials online and trust they will be delivered to their door fast,” an Amazon spokesperson said in emailed commentary. “We’re consistently looking for ways to offer more choice, flexibility, and value for Prime members so we look forward to expanding our two-hour delivery window offering to more Rite Aid locations in the future.”
“Our customer-centric approach complements the busy lives of our consumers to conveniently meet them where they are, which is why we are excited to team up with Amazon to provide local Prime members convenient access to deliver everyday essentials right to their doorstep with two-hour delivery windows,” a Rite Aid spokesperson said in emailed commentary. “We look forward to expanding the offering to more locations in the future to help more communities achieve whole health.”
Amazon extends the reach of Prime shopping
Beyond this new partnership with Rite Aid, Amazon has been attempting to enable members of its Prime paid membership program to shop from a wider variety of retailers. In October 2022, the e-tail giant began allowing Prime members to order Save Mart grocery deliveries through the Amazon app or a dedicated page of the Amazon e-commerce site, starting at $4.99 per order for Amazon Prime members.
Currently, Amazon also offers two-hour delivery windows from other retailers including Bristol Farms, Bartell Drugs, Pet Food Express, and Cardenas Markets to Prime members in select cities.
In April 2022, Amazon launched a new program called “Buy with Prime” that enables U.S.-based Prime members to directly shop online stores on its third-party marketplace.
Prime members obtain the same benefits they get when directly shopping the Amazon site, such as fast, free delivery; seamless checkout; and free returns on eligible orders. The Prime logo and delivery guarantee are displayed on eligible products in participating retailers’ online stores.
