Albertsons adds online delivery partner
Albertsons Cos. is teaming up with a third-party platform to expand its online delivery offering.
The Idaho-based grocery conglomerate is partnering with Grubhub to offer delivery via the marketplace at 1,800 of its stores across multiple banners including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw's, Acme and Tom Thumb. Availability is based on delivery locations through the grocery section on the Grubhub app and website.
Select Albertsons Cos. banner stores will also be available on the Grubhub+ paid loyalty program that provides customers access to unlimited $0 delivery on eligible orders.
Albertsons offers a wide variety of online same-day delivery options with a variety of partners. In addition to a same-day delivery offering via DoorDash, the company teams up with third-party providers including Instacart, Uber, and Anycart.
In addition, the grocer offers a service called “Flash,” designed to provide online order pickup and delivery in as little as 30 minutes, as part of its in-house DriveUp & Go curbside pickup offering and online delivery service.
Albertsons is Grubhub's first national grocery partner following its recent entry to the grocery vertical in partnership with Mercato, a marketplace for independent grocers.

Based in Chicago, Grubhub is part of JustEatTakeaway.com, a U.S. food ordering and delivery marketplace, and features more than 355,000 restaurant partners in over 4,000 U.S. cities.
As of Dec. 2, 2023, Boise-based Albertsons Companies operated 2,271 retail food and drug stores with 1,726 pharmacies, 401 associated fuel centers, 22 dedicated distribution centers and 19 manufacturing facilities. The Company operates stores across 34 states and the District of Columbia with 24 banners including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw's, Acme, Tom Thumb, Randalls, United Supermarkets, Pavilions, Star Market, Haggen, Carrs, Kings Food Markets and Balducci's Food Lovers Market.
