By Dan Berthiaume - 11/06/2019

Customers at select Winn-Dixie stores in Louisiana no longer have to leave home.

The regional grocery chain, a banner of Southeastern Grocers, is now offering online ordering and grocery delivery services at stores in locations including Baton Rouge, Covington, Mandeville, New Orleans, Slidell, the Westbank, and other areas. Winn-Dixie is partnering with on-demand grocery delivery providers Instacart and Shipt.

The online delivery assortment will feature an assortment of grocery and household items including fresh produce, meat and seafood, health and beauty goods, pet products, and consumable baby items, at the same price as in-store. Delivery is free for orders of $35 or more for Shipt members, with a $7 fee for smaller orders. Instacart order fees depend on size of order and time selected. Pickup is available at stores in select areas and is included in Shipt memberships

“We are always looking for additional opportunities to meet the evolving needs of our customers in each community we serve,” said Andrew Nadin, executive VP and chief customer officer, Southeastern Grocers. “As we embrace digital advancements, we are excited to expand our e-commence partnerships to offer added conveniences for Louisiana shoppers. Partnering with marketplace leaders will provide our customers with simple options for the same quality products and value, which will help make their lives a little easier.”

In a recent Southeastern Grocers survey, more than one-third of customers admitting to purchasing groceries online within the past year. Of the customers purchasing groceries online, 88% of them also had the items delivered. The findings also indicate that the number one reason customers shop online rather than in the store is to save time.
