Windsor Fashions continues national expansion with first Manhattan location
Windsor Fashions has finally made it to the Big Apple.
The young women's fashion and accessories retailer, best known for its affordable prom dresses and special occasion outfits, has opened its first store in Manhattan. Located in the city’s SoHo area, it is Windsor’s 18th store overall in New York state.
Windsor has been accelerating its store expansion. The company, which currently operates more than 200 locations, has opened 29 new stores so far this year. It plans to open an additional three stores by yearend.
At 4,000 sq. ft, the SoHo store is Windsor’s first two-story location. The space is bright and airy with significant natural light, wood floors and exposed brick walls. The merchandise is arranged by different occasions, including formal, weekend getaway, brunch, work, club/going out and more.
Based in Southern California, Windsor was founded in 1937 by the Zekaria family and is now run by the second generation of Zekaria brothers, Leon and Ike. The brothers, who took the helm in 1998, have expanded the chain nationwide and developed an integrated e-commerce business. They also expanded Windsor’s product assortment to include a broad selection of apparel and accessories for both special and everyday wear, with the selection tailored by market.
The retailer offers more than 200 new styles in-store and online every week, with its fashions inspired by the “hottest looks from the red carpet, runway and celebrity street style,” according to the company.
“We are thrilled to open our doors in Manhattan and join the prestigious SoHo shopping district,” said Andy Solomon, president of Windsor Fashions. “Dressing up for occasions and all of life’s events is at the core of the Windsor brand.”
Windsor is backed by private equity firm Sun Capital Partners.
