Wilson Sporting Goods Co. continues to expand its footprint.

The Chicago-based sporting goods equipment and apparel manufacturer has opened its first store on the West Coast, at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, Calif. The 4,500-sq.-ft. space combines an expansive product offering across a wide range of sport categories with immersive experiences that celebrate the brand’s rich history and inspire play.

Wilson Sporting Goods, whose roots go back to 1913, opened its first permanent brick-and-mortar store in summer 2021, in Chicago. Currently, in addition to the new Santa Monica outpost, the brand has two stores in Chicago and three in New York City, including a flagship in SoHo.

The Santa Monica store features a play/test area — complete with a basketball hoop and hitting wall — where customers can try out products. Available on-site services include racquet stringing.

The location also has an “Equipment Room,” where shoppers can rent select items to test outside of the store before purchasing. Products across tennis, pickleball, basketball, football, volleyball and more are available for rent, with the fees ranging from $5-$10 per day based on the product. The rental fee will be taken  off the final price if  the item is purchased.

“We are thrilled to bring the in-person expression of our brand to the West Coast, and there’s no better place to start than Santa Monica,” said Gordon Devin, president and general manager, Wilson Sportswear. “From our first retail location in Chicago, to opening multiple locations across the country, Wilson is dedicated to celebrating celebrating athletes of all levels through a premium range of products and experiences.”

Similar to its other locations, the merchandise assortment at Wilson Santa Monica includes the official basketballs of the NBA and WNBA, the Duke – the official ball of the NFL, A2000 gloves, leading tennis rackets, exclusive West Coast-inspired product and more. It also features Wilson’s newest styles from its technical sportswear collection.

Wilson Sporting Goods Co. is a subsidiary of Amer Sports Corporation, a leading manufacturer of high-performance sports equipment, apparel and accessories.
