The Wendy’s Company is moving its financial and human resources (HR) operations to the cloud.

The fast food hamburger chain relied heavily on manual processes across its financial and HR operations. Besides being time consuming, these administrative tasks were keeping employees and restaurant managers from providing “an exceptional customer experience,” according to a company statement.

To help increase efficiency and enable employees to focus on delivering quality food and service, Wendy's transitioned these mission-critical processes to Oracle’s cloud-based Fusion Applications Suite. Wendy’s leveraged the platform’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to consolidate 11 different financial applications. The platform also features using embedded analytics that will help the company to increase productivity and improve controls.

Through its partnership with Oracle, Wendy's also developed a new billing management system to automate unique franchisee requirements around billing and payments. The billing system is integrated into the Oracle Fusion Applications Suite.

Wendy's is also moving its global HR system to the platform’s Human Capital Management (HCM) solution. This transition will standardize onboarding processes, enhance HR self-service capabilities, provide real-time visibility into goals and performance metrics, and give employees more control over their career development.

“Our vision is to create fast, frictionless, and fun user experiences for our employees, franchisees, and front-line workers to help drive consistent, quick, and convenient customer experiences," said Stephanie Shaw, VP of enterprise technology, Wendy's. "Aligning Finance and HR on Oracle Fusion Applications Suite has allowed us to simplify and automate business processes to help build a culture of innovation and inclusivity and enable employees to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time thinking about and engaging with our customers.”

Wendy’s is no stranger to adopting innovations that aim to improve the customer experience. The hamburger chain recently announced that it is pursuing initiatives in robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital advertising.

Columbus, Ohio-based Wendy's and its franchisees employ hundreds of thousands of people across approximately 7,000 restaurants worldwide.
