Weis Markets construction, leasing underway at Bayberry Town Center
Blenheim Group’s incoming mixed-use development in Middletown, Del. is starting to take shape.
The development firm has announced that construction has started on the anchoring Weis Markets at Bayberry Town Center, a 280,000-sq.-ft. retail destination located near the state’s border with Maryland. The 64,000-sq.-ft. store will be Weis Markets’ fourth store in Delaware and its first ground-up development in the state.
When complete, Bayberry Town Center will also include professional office space, two green spaces for community programming, 145 townhomes on the property, and internal street and trail connectivity with over 3,000 homes.

The Weis store will feature “expansive” fresh departments, a pharmacy, a grocery department with excellent variety, as well as a Weis Gas N’ Go fuel center. Both the grocery store and the fuel center are projected to open in the fourth quarter of this year.
“It is great to get started,” said Weis Markets chairman, CEO and president Jonathan Weis. “When completed, our new Bayberry store will offer a strong combination of quality, value and convenience. We look forward to serving the Village of Bayberry and the surrounding communities.”
National and local tenants looking to establish a presence in the state are also being attracted to the property, added Blenheim Group. Chipotle, McDonald’s, and Bloom Nail Salon have signed leases, while negotiations are underway with Chase Bank, Wingstop, UPS, Great Clips, and Verizon to finalize their leases. Additional retailers, restaurants, and service providers are in active discussions to secure space. The first buildings will begin construction this spring, with grand openings expected between fall 2025 and spring 2026.
