Barclay Group is touting its accomplishment of constructing seven shopping centers in the past 15 months – all anchored by one major grocer.

The Florida-based real estate development firm has delivered seven Kroger-anchored shopping centers since May 2024. With one exception, all of the centers are located in Arizona.

Recent openings include two shopping centers in January 2025: Flying Horse in Colorado Springs, Colo., anchored by King Sooper's Marketplace, which opened on Jan. 22, and Morrison Ranch in Gilbert, Ariz., anchored by Fry's Marketplace, which opened Jan. 31.

The additional Barclay Group retail centers are all anchored by Fry's Marketplace,:

  • Gladden Farms in Marana, Ariz., which opened in October 2024.
  • Vistancia Point in Peoria, Ariz., which opened in November 2024.
  • Hudson Station in Queen Creek, Ariz., which opened in May 2024.
  • Heritage West in Buckeye, Ariz., slated for completion later this year.
  • Sycamore Farms in Surprise, Ariz., slated for completion later this year.

In 2024, Barclay Group delivered nine retail shopping centers, totaling 1.9 million square feet across the Southwest and Southeast regions. Anchor tenants at these centers include Fry's, Target, Sprouts, and EOS Fitness.

Looking ahead, the company says it is continuing to focus on growing its multi-tenant retail portfolio. This portfolio now includes 25 properties across six states, including Arizona, Florida, Texas, Colorado, North Carolina, and Idaho.

“Our strategy has always been relationship focused,” said Colby Fincham, executive VP, West, Barclay Group. “As we look to the future, we will continue to work closely with our partners to develop thoughtfully designed retail destinations that meet the needs of residents and retailers alike."
