The waiting is almost over.

Wegmans Food Market will open its first Big Apple location at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18. The two-level, 87,500-sq.-ft. store is located in lower Manhattan, at Astor Place (770 Broadway). It will be the company’s second outpost in New York City, following the 2019 opening of Wegmans Brooklyn.

More than 600 employees will help create a one-of-a-kind shopping experience, with a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the original architecture of the historic Wannamaker building, the company said. The building most recently housed a Kmart, which closed in July 2021.

The store will feature an onsite dining room, featuring a Sushi Bar and Champagne-Oyster Bar. It will open in the first half of 2024.

Wegmans operates 109 stores located along the East Coast.
