Walmart is redesigning the front-end checkout in one of its locations as it looks to shorten lines and reduce checkout time.
The discount giant is replacing its traditional, in-person checkout lanes with self-checkout kiosks at a store in Fayetteville, Ark., reported Today.com. Customers that prefer or require assistance can have a store employee scan and bag their purchases at the kiosks, the report said.
“What we are looking at in this new setup is ... how can we move people through a checkout experience quicker at a Walmart?” Kory Lundberg told TODAY Style. “How can we shorten the lines, how can we move people through and get them onto the rest of their day as quickly as possible?”
