Walmart partners to extend reach of third-party delivery

Walmart GoLocal
Walmart is expanding GoLocal delivery with Delivery Solutions.

Walmart is making its white label GoLocal online delivery as a service business available to users of the Delivery Solutions platform.

The discount titan, which launched Walmart GoLocal to deliver goods to customers of other businesses in August 2021, is partnering with Delivery Solutions as a last-mile delivery service provider. The Delivery Solutions platform provides access to a network of same-day delivery providers, including independent contractors as well as major parcel delivery services, in its end-to-end white-label solution.

Leveraging a single API and dashboard, Delivery Solutions provides a last-mile ecosystem, as well as solutions for same-day delivery, curbside, in-store pickup, shipping, lockers, autonomous, drones, and enhanced post-purchase notifications.

The GoLocal service is built on the existing infrastructure supporting the Express Delivery same-day delivery service Walmart rolled out in 2020. This includes drones, autonomous vehicles and market fulfillment centers. The white-label delivery-as-a-service offering includes nationwide delivery capabilities on a range of assortment, including those with size and complex requirements, as well as the flexibility to meet varying timelines.

According to Walmart, GoLocal is an important part of its overall strategy, which includes diversifying its revenue streams and profit pools with initiatives like the Walmart Connect third-party ad platform and Walmart Fulfillment Services network for third-party marketplace sellers. Since its initial launch, The Home Depot became the first retailer to sign on with GoLocal, in October 2021. The Home Depot service is limited to items that easily fit in a car such as fasteners, paint and small tools.

In addition, just in time for the holiday rush in December 2021, Chico’s FAS began enabling customers across its Chico's, White House | Black Market, and Soma banners to have online orders delivered to their homes in as little as two hours with Walmart GoLocal.

Most recently, Walmart launched a collaboration https://www.chainstoreage.com/walmart-brings-online-delivery-mid-sized-grocers with e-commerce platform provider Cognetry Labs to provide an integrated white label, turnkey e-commerce delivery solution to mid-sized and independent grocery retailers. Cognetry Labs will leverage Walmart GoLocal’s network of delivery capabilities to offer the service to its retail clients.

As a result, Cognetry clients will have access to nationwide, high-capacity coverage to deliver products the same day they are ordered. Walmart GoLocal’s built-in capabilities allow retailers to expand both coverage and capacity on demand.

“We’re thrilled to join the Delivery Solutions platform as a reliable delivery service provider and share our expertise in local delivery with businesses of all sizes,” said Harsit Patel, general manager of Walmart GoLocal. “Due to our coverage, cost and extensive delivery capabilities, we know that Delivery Solutions customers will find the fulfillment options that best fits their needs through Walmart GoLocal, including delivery in as little as 30 minutes.”

“We are very excited about this collaboration with Walmart GoLocal, as both our brands share a dedication to customer service and retail client support. As part of our ongoing commitment, we look forward to providing our customers with access to all options for same-day delivery,” said Manil Uppal, founder of Delivery Solutions. “We are confident that Walmart GoLocal’s capabilities, combined with our expertise in cutting-edge omnichannel programs, will provide Delivery Solutions customers with even more convenience and flexibility.”
