Walmart launches delivery from in-store restaurants with Subway
Walmart is making a major addition to the product categories included in its Express Delivery offering.
Walmart customers in select locations can now order Subway directly through the Walmart app or website and have a meal delivered in as little as 30 minutes or less, either on its own or alongside a Walmart Express Delivery order with a flat Walmart Express Delivery fee and no hidden delivery costs.
The new integrated delivery offering is initially available at Walmart stores across Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas, and will expand to approximately 1,400 locations by the end of the summer. Customers in eligible areas will see the option to order Subway directly on the Walmart app or site based on the addresses associated with their account. T
Eligible customers are able to browse the Subway menu, customize their meal down to individual toppings and add it to their cart, either on its own or alongside their grocery and household items, and have everything delivered via Express Delivery.
This initiative marks Walmart’s first restaurant integration within Express Delivery. Subway pricing will be consistent with in-restaurant menus, with exclusive menu items available at participating Subways within Walmart stores.
"The future of retail is about bringing more of customers’ everyday needs into a single, seamless experience," said Tracy Poulliot, executive VP e-commerce and marketing, Walmart U.S. "Bringing Subway delivery into the Walmart app is another way we’re using our proximity to customers and scale to make everyday decisions simpler and everyday life a little easier."
Subway is Walmart’s largest in-store restaurant tenant, with a relationship that began in 2004. Other efforts Walmart has made to expand the scope of Express Delivery include offering both late night and early morning delivery hours.
