Walmart Health will enter three new states in 2024.

Walmart is bringing its freestanding health center format to another new market.

The retail giant will enter the state of Oklahoma, opening four Walmart Health centers in the Oklahoma City-area in 2024.  It’s the third new state Walmart Health will enter next year, in addition to Missouri and Arizona. The company will also expand its presence in Texas.

Launched in 2019, Walmart Health has more than 30 locations in Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, and Texas.  Earlier this year, the company announced plans to open 28 new Walmart Health centers in 2024, giving it a total of more than 75 locations by the end of the year.

At approximately 5,750 sq. ft., the new Walmart Health facilities will be located beside Walmart Supercenters, and will feature a full suite of health services. The services may vary by location, but include primary care, labs, X-ray and EKG, behavioral health, dental, hearing, select specialty services, community health and telehealth.

Each of the health centers will integrate modern equipment and technology to enable providers and patients alike to experience best-in-class healthcare technology. This includes integrating Epic’s electronic health record system across all Walmart Health locations.

In 2022, Walmart Health expanded its presence in Florida, and implemented value-based care in its Florida and Georgia locations to individuals with qualifying Medicare Advantage plans.

We are thrilled to announce the expansion of Walmart Health into Oklahoma next year,” said Dr. David Carmouche, senior VP of omnichannel care offerings at Walmart. “Walmart Health exists to help Walmart customers live better by providing convenient access to affordable, high-quality healthcare services for both insured and uninsured Oklahomans alike. Knowing that access to comprehensive primary care, dental care, and behavioral health services is a challenge in many communities, it is our hope that this one-stop model will help solve this challenge for our neighbors in Oklahoma City. Providing these services in a place where many already live and shop and co-locating them by pharmacy and vision services and next to healthy foods in the Walmart grocery section is intentional. We can coordinate unique and impactful healthcare experiences.”
