Walgreens provides charitable option for loyalty members

Walgreens is unveiling a new donation feature of its myWalgreens rewards program.

The drugstore giant is collaborating with charitable giving platform in/PACT to empower customers to direct rewards to charities of their choice, and the non-profit GoodCoin Foundation to create and launch the cloud-based charitable giving solution within its myWalgreens loyalty program. Members can donate their Walgreens Cash rewards to local non-profits via or the myWalgreens app.

Throughout the year, hundreds of local nonprofit partners from across the country will appear on the myWalgreens platform as charities of choice. The nonprofit organizations will be selected to align with Walgreens’ broader community strategy focused on youth, community and social impact, and health equity.

Rotating every 90 days, customers will see three local nonprofit charities, as well as a national nonprofit partner, when they visit Walgreens online or through the myWalgreens mobile app. Non-profits will appear based upon a customer’s identified local store location, and partners will change regularly.

Walgreens Cash rewards may be donated in any dollar amount to a single organization, or customers can choose to spread it amongst the nonprofit options.

Walgreens operates more than 9,000 stores across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
