“Red Nose Day” is once again a brick-and-mortar event for Walgreens.

For the ninth year in a row, Walgreens is serving as the exclusive retailer of Red Nose Day, a fundraising campaign to end child poverty run by the non-profit organization Comic Relief U.S. Red Nose Day has raised more than $324 million since its launch in 2015, with Walgreens having raised more than $178 million toward that total.

Through Wednesday, May 31, 2023, customers at Walgreens and Duane Reade store locations can donate in-store via pin-pad or purchase a “Red Nose” for $1, with all profits benefitting Red Nose Day. During 2020 and 2021, Walgreens only offered a digital Red Nose filter due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, the retailer offered both online and physical Red Nose Day options.

“Walgreens is dedicated to bringing more joyful lives through better health and that starts with the youth in the communities we serve being able to access the quality medical, dental and mental health care, nutritious meals, and more, to enable a healthy future,” said Linh Peters, chief marketing officer, Walgreens. “As we begin our ninth year of Red Nose Day fundraising, we’re excited to continue to drive impact in our local communities by focusing on ways to improve the health and wellbeing of all.”

“With the support of Walgreens and the millions of people who support Red Nose Day every year, Comic Relief U.S. has expanded our scope of work to break cycles of intergenerational poverty and increased funding for programs addressing ongoing social inequities,” said Alison Moore, CEO of Comic Relief U.S. “We look forward to raising more funds this year for an even bigger impact in 2023 building healthy lives and futures that all children deserve.”

Funds raised during this year’s Red Nose Day campaign will benefit grantee partners including Children’s Health Fund, Covenant House; Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Save the Children, City Year, and Jumpstart and many others. On Thursday, May 25, customers can show support with a selfie on social media, or organizing an in-person or virtual fundraising event.

Walgreens operates nearly 9,000 stores across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
