Walgreens and 7-Eleven are partnering with Shipt.
Leading retailers in the drugstore and convenience verticals are both launching same-day delivery with the same third-party platform.
Walgreens and 7-Eleven are now partnering with Shipt, an independently operated, wholly-owned subsidiary of Target Corp. According to Shipt, the addition of these two retailers on its marketplace increases its store coverage across the country by more than 40% and represents the most stores ever added to its online delivery marketplace at one time.
To drive adoption in markets, Shipt is working with both Walgreens and 7-Eleven on unique customer promotions. Following are more details on each retailer’s partnership.
Walgreens
Walgreens will be launching same-day delivery via Shipt nationwide with over 25,000 items available from more than 6,303 locations. Customers can now place online orders for thousands of over-the-counter medications (OTC), beauty, personal care, household, and convenience products for Shipt delivery from these stores.
Walgreens expanded the assortment of items it makes available for two-hour delivery to 24,000 in May 2021. The retailer also has existing partnerships with third-party delivery platforms including DoorDash, Uber, Instacart, and Postmates.
7-Eleven
7-Eleven is offering same-day Shipt delivery of an assortment of a variety of snacks, drinks, and household essentials from 6,450 stores. The world’s largest convenience retailer now provides nine different options for on-demand delivery. In addition to Shipt, 7-Eleven partners with Uber Eats, Grubhub, Instacart, Postmates, DoorDash, Google, regional same-day provider Favor in Texas, and its 7Now app. 7-Eleven is also partnering with self-navigating vehicle company Nuro in an autonomous delivery pilot in Mountain View, Calif.
Shipt, which added 1,000 stores from existing retail partners and 2 million households to its delivery area in September 2021, says these two new partnerships boost the number of store locations available on its marketplace by more than 40%. Shipt now collaborates with more than 140 retailers.
“People across the country depend on Walgreens for their health and wellness needs and everyday essentials, and we look forward to our brand reaching even more customers through our collaboration with Shipt,” said Stefanie Kruse, VP of digital commerce and omnichannel, Walgreens. “Shipt demonstrates a clear commitment to service and convenience, and we are excited to offer their above-and-beyond approach to personal shopping and delivery to our customers.”
