Von Maur to open first location in North Dakota, at Fargo’s West Acres Mall

Von Maur continues to expand its national footprint.

The 151-year-old, family-owned department store retailer plans to open a 90,000-sq.-ft. location at West Acres Mall, in Fargo, N.D.  Construction of the store, which will be an anchor tenant at the center, is set to begin this summer, with a scheduled opening for spring 2025.

Von Maur North Dakota national growth strategy that has brought it into such new states as It also is set to open its first location in Pennsylvania, in 2024.

 Von Maur is also growing its its young women fashion specialty banner, Dry Goods, with 11 stores planned to open in 2023, including the brand first locations in Alabama, Arkansas and New York.   

The new Von Maur will feature the retailer’s signature residential ambiance, original artwork and an open floor plan, with music from the store's grand piano. It is expected that the store will eventually employ 125 associates – the majority of which will be full-time. 

In addition to its selection of of brand name and specialty apparel, shoes, accessories and gifts,, and complimentary shipping services.  The company was named the top department store in the country by Newsweek’s “America’s Best Retailers 2022.” 

It addition, it was recently honored by the Accessories Council as the “2023 Retailer of the Year” for its strong commitment to customer service, curated product assortments, and reputation of being great industry partners.

Von Maur was founded in 1872 in downtown Davenport, Iowa. The company currently operates 37 stores in 15 states.
